BANGUED, Abra – The provincial government has lined up simple but meaningful to celebrate the Abrenian Kawayan festival 2016 and the province’s 99 founding anniversary on March 6-10, 2016.
The activities for the celebration will kick off on Sunday, March 6, 2016 with the farmers’ and livestock parade around the capital town at 7 am which will be followed by the so-called ‘Panagsurong 2016;’ 8th Abra invitational trail-riding adventure at the Cap Juan Villamor at around 8 am.
Herald Web Insert newA Eucharistic mass will recede the conduct of the grand opening program that includes the ribbon cutting of the agriculture and trade fair, TESDA free car and motorcycle servicing and wellness corner, including free haircut, massage, manicure and pedicure.
At 3 pm, Gov. Eustaquio P. Bersamin will open the governor’s Cup chess championship at the Camp Juan Villamor basketball court which will be followed by the ‘Silnag’or parade of lights around the capital town.
Ely Buendia Greatest Hits live concert, the PNP band and Magno brothers will hold a concert at the Camp Juan Villamor grounds.
On March 7, a boxing tournament will be conducted at the Villamor gymnasium followed by a dance showdonwn at the Villamor grounds at around 6 pm with celebrity guest Billy Joe Crawford.
On March 8, ballroom enthusiasts will have the chance the showcase their talents in the Ballroom Dancing competition at the Villamor grounds with celebrity guest Boobsie Wonderland and Jay-R.
The founding anniversary program will be held on March 9 with the day starting with the Diana followed by a Eucharistic mass and the traditional grand parade and float competition followed by the Ilocano-Tingguian festival with celebrity gust Jake Cuenca, Ejay Falcon and Arci Muños .
The usual ‘inniliw,’ a cultural show and dancing under the stars and balikbayan night of retro muses with celebrity guest JC de Vera, Jessie Mendiola, Gladys Guevarra and Ian Red band will be held in the evening.
On March 10, the program will culminate with the Search for Ms. Gay Abrenian Kawayan festival 2016 with celebrity guest Markki Stroem.
Bersamin extended an invitation to the public to visit Abra and have a first-hand experience of the warm welcome and reception of the people as well as the developments that had been undertaken which contributed in achieving law and order in the province.
‘We have prepared for the special activities that we have lined up for our Abrenian Kawayan festival. We hope that the public will appreciate the simple but meaningful programs that we have prepared for everyone,” Bersamin stressed.
Bersamin also expressed his gratitude to the officialdom and the people of Abra for their utmost cooperation and support to his leadership over the past nine years that resulted in the successful implementation of various programs and projects that contributed in improving the state of the province for the benefit of the present and future generations.

Do we have assesment how much we earned from tourinst coming in if they are? If they are tourist to join the festivities van we cater their needs like hotel roads n scenic view to be offered. If ive given a chance to work with a senatoror congressman as their parliamentary researcher il propose to them the banning of celebration of fedtivsl during election period bec politicians will tend to violate the ekection laws to boost their candidacy. Hope the pnp will never allow their property to be used by abusive politicians. Pd immediately arrest those politicians campaigning in ur own turf like what the afp did when villar n party went to the detention cell of querubin in a camp and they started campaigning with media coverage.

Who knows how much it cost for all these fiestas and festivals. the way i see it, it benefits the politicians specially during election year. we should change the way we celebrate. we should come up with ideas that improves the lives of the people.

About the budget, we have commission on audit to assess and check the expenses of said event, if it is appropriate or not. But i like your point sir that we should come up with new ideas that as we celebrate festival it should also help the lives of people to improve. Sir if you have any idea on how to improve the lives of people while celebrating fiesta please share to social media or to the authorities concern, it will serve as wake up call to the concerned authorities and it may help them to make a better a plan that while celebrating fiesta it will also improve the lives of their constituents. For all we know, that all provinces, cities, municipalities, barangay and even remote barangay in our country have festivals. Your brilliant idea sir will surely help the Filipino people..

Festivals or fiestas are some of the most anticipated events in the country. How much we earned from tourist during celebration of festival is not the main goal of celebrating it and it’s not a waste of money. Filipinos celebrate fiestas for various reasons, these include, showing gratitude for good harvest, commemorating significant event in local history and celebrating the feast of saints. Fiestas have become a unforgettable part of the Filipino culture.Celebrating festivals or fiestas gives joy of family togetherness, harmony among kith and kin and other people. It gives joyousness to people.
