The fight for Governorship in Abra just got a twist with an allege filing of disqualification case against Ruby Bersamin’s cadidacy on the basis that she didn’t properly renounced her US Citizenship.
Being a US Citizen or even with dual citizenship for that matter cannot run for an elective position in the Philippines, not even as Barangay Captain. Here’s a sample Supreme Court decision.
If indeed this is true, our assumption earlier that Chari Bersamin may became a substitute candidate will become a reality.
Quoting a post (as is) from one of our users below revealed some discrepancies of Ms. Bersamin’s filing of her COC.
