Aboitiz delivers disconnection notice to ABRECO for the nth time

Instead of twinkling lights, the Christmas tree is surrounded by flicker candles.

Instead of twinkling lights, the Christmas tree is surrounded by flicker candles.

We have lost count how many disconnection notices ABRECO has received from Aboitiz Power (APRI). Each time ABRECO somehow was able to avert disaster. Incidentally, exactly 2 years ago today, Aboitiz went ahead and delivered the coup de grace and pulled the plug.

Barely a month has gone by since APRI and ABRECO agreed to maintain the status-quo based on certain conditions. But APRI, in an email update to abrenian.com, apparently delivered another disconnection notice to ABRECO on December 1, 2014. In that notice ABRECO was given up to December 8 to settle their bill.

“Unfortunately sir, the cooperative once again failed to comply to their commitment to settle their power bill on time, based on the agreed payment schedule.”, said an Aboitiz representative.

“They again failed to pay, thus, APRI will have no choice but to enforce the disconnection tomorrow, December 10, 2014” (abrenian.com).

  3. I tell you guys, just laugh at it because there will be no disconnection! They may issue disconnection notice a thousand times. Sec Petilla is there for us. No worries

    • This is the kind of blind faith that miss omli does have for GM seares!. I just wonder why? madam omli, are you privy to the talks between GM Seares and Sec Petilla? Do you know how much did GM seares bribe Sec Petilla so this God damn GM could cling on to dear power and position.
The people of Abra know that ABRECO is deep down on debts because of the mismanagement of your idol GM Seares. You don’t know what is happening in the ground, because the feedback you get are from the perpetrators themselves. Do you think madam omli that a crook would admit to wrongdoing? A crook would always claim innocense inspite of the truth that he actually did.The crook GM loreto Seares is really good, because you believe in him even though he is lying. Have you ever tried asking independent people as to what the state of ABRECO really is? Why not ask the lowly linemen, the clerks or the bill collectors for you to know the truth. Ask them if they have taken what is due them.

      • @Mario Bang….i did not go that far about employees not getting paid. I talked to GM about Capital Shares but I did not quite understand. I needed more clarification but time did not permit me….I had to fly back to the US 😦

As far as financial statements of Abreco, I did my verifications. What was given to me by Abreco were all verified against the reports submitted to NEA & CDA. They all matched somehow.

Now, what I needed from GM are names of those who made advances and the amounts. In the reports I had, it only said “employees advances”. I can send SYSOP the latest financial report I have so he can post here for everyone to see the format of their reporting. I can also send the COA report before his take over so you all see what they call…”the best kept secret” they’ve been protecting all these years. GM mentioned to me he is still paying debts of the previous management. I never disclosed this to anyone, but I think the time has come i guess fir all of you to make your judgments. It saddens me to see the GM taking all the crap of someone else’s.

Pedro Abreno or MARIO Bang you’re right, I do not have the latest COA Report. It was’ nt ready at the time I went to CDA. Mr. Alindogan told me it’s still being reviewed by their legal dept.

And, yes I met with everyone…NEA, CDA & APRI just to get a feedback. Everyone expressed their opinions and I agree with all of them.

My findings was held for a while because I wanted to du cuss them with the GM. Unfortunately, I had to leave to come back to the US. I was hoping for the GM to meet with me at the office of CDA so we can discuss the areas of HELP he needed. Couldn’t get in touch with him, until only the other day.

My impression about the GM: Resourceful, Smart, ( although everyone claims he is not a college grad), good hearted, quiet, respectful, irresponsible when it comes to his appointments & calls, a good listener, willing to learn, accepts constructive criticisms, a good leader based on my observations meeting with his BOD & staffs, and he’s a charming one.

For those with dirty minds & dirty mouths: I am not paid by anyone to express my opinions; I am NOT his “miss… (tress)” and I am not romantically involved with him…capice?

        • So sis comli what is your clear stand? Are you saying that changing the management is not needed? that this style of management must continue? that the sufferings of the lowly employees are just normal? that disconnection must be faced every month with no worries? that abreco is fine and not problematic? My God forgive me!

        • Madam Omli, I am privy to the “best kept secret” you are talking about. My good friend, SP James Bersamin paid dearly with his life because he exposed the mess at ABRECO before Jun Seares took over the helm. As a matter of fact all the evidences compiled by SP James were with me for one whole week. The consumers then were supposed to receive a rebate in staggered basis because they were overcharged by the then management of ABRECO. I saw all the spurious receipts of expenses given by then management to liquidate the monies of the cooperative. That is the reason why in my previous posts, I wrote that he (Jun Seares) may be right when he said he inherited an ABRECO deeply mired in debt. However, with all due respect, Madam Omli, I maintain that ABRECO deteriorated further under the watch of Jun Seares. ABRECO did not have to face an electricity cut-off before the term of Jun Seares until several years after. It was only in 2012 that ABRECO’s finances really went under and the rest is history. The management of ABRECO today is paying its arrears for the month of November with collections coming from the December billing. Where will they get the money to pay their December bill? This will go an ad infinitum unless we use the final and fitting solution which is to have a complete change in the management of ABRECO. Jun Seares can say anything he wants, but how can we check the veracity of his statements when he refuses to face the consumer/members. At the very least, he should convene a special assembly and make a clean breast of it to show he is innocent of the allegations hurled against him. If he does that and he passes the scrutiny of the consumer/members, I will be the first to recommend that he be given a chance to continue working as general manager of ABRECO. Failing that, the most honorable thing left for him is to resign. I sincerely believe that is fair enough.

        • Every pro-active citizen knows that nea, cda, coa can be bribed to come up with a good report, good performance, and good implementations with regard to their financial standing.

What the board can do to make an impact, is to hire a third party auditor to verify the financial position of the cooperative, someone that has already establish their names, proved their expertise, and with unquestionable integrity in the industry… The likes of SGV, pricewaterhousecoopers, manabat and company, alba romero, Punongbayan & araullo etc…. Or any accounting firm that has Group A accreditation (those that can audit publicly listed companies)

If the board of directors can give themselves carS as additional compensation, getting the services of these high tier accounting firms should not be an issue (or given the right connections, they can perform the services for free). As this would surely identify and address the current state of the cooperative, determine the real and unquestionable financial position of the cooperative, so they can give expert advice to help management steer the cooperative back to its right track, and bring back credibility to the cooperatives and to those people managing it.

Though, for the Board, this might be a bitter pill that would be hard for them to swallow, hence as long as this is not met, all we have now are b.s. talks about this and that, reports of this and that, cheap speeches about like this and likethat, and some band-aid solutions in addressing a growing societal dilemma.

Hint: if the board does not convene it, maybe concerned members can petition/ initiate/ start a referendum for such matter, i guess nothing is wrong if members would just want to know the current state of the cooperative from an undisputable accounting firm.

    • I am wondering whether these COMLI bloggers is the real Carmelita Omli. They are using different IP addresses and emails. Mrs. Omli once admonishes SySop on the matter. Perhaps, Abreco insiders think that COMLI is a dependable name for their defense. Don’t be fooled by these pseudo users. A.com is such a blessing to the province. For quite a time, Abrenians are kept tamed on issues affecting their lives because these people in power have effectively sowed fears through the barrel of their guns. Gone are those days, people can now speak up freely. Bloggers who are posting defensive arguments sparingly shows no tactfulness in their words, nor any dept of thoughts. These are the people in position who think they are untouchables. Be reminded that falsehood would not last, it will eventually recede and the truth will come overwhelmingly. Those in powers therefore; confess your wrong doings, pay necessary indemnities, and go sin no more. There is a little time left for you. This is your only recourse.

I guess, people do this to destroy my credibility? I don’t know.

May I ask SYSOP to delete that ugly comment of ERIC SHAWN above in response to Mario Bang’s post?

        • Mighty big words, Madam Omli-“How dare of him to say that. He doesn’t know me”. “May I ask SYSOP to delete that ugly comment of ERIC SHAWN”? Madam Omli, are you not going to ask SYSOP to delete your comment that I am MARIO BANG? SYSOP certainly knows what you posted was a big lie because I have not posted any comment under any other name and I have only posted using a single IP address. I have been called many names – a lady lawyer based in the U.S., Vicsyd Valera, Mario Bang and you also believed I was a woman then. I can’t understand why you are so fixated on my person. I can take all of these stupid remarks as I believe they are par for the course. But when you wrote that you sent me money for something you needed, that was by far the unkindest cut of all. I am much older than you Madam Omli. I spent the better part of my life in Metro Manila. I went back to Bangued after retiring from my job. I have never worked for anybody, in any capacity in Abra. Madam Omli, you don’t know me and I don’t know you from Eve. No matter how people try, they cannot destroy your credibility because only you can do that. Credibility is tarnished and destroyed when you say one thing and do the opposite. Credibility is destroyed when you do not possess good judgment. Your credibility was destroyed when you posted “the by-laws of ABRECO must be followed and in the next breath you defend GM Seares who has violated everything in the by-laws of ABRECO. Madam Omli, charm has nothing to do with competence and integrity in managing ABRECO or any organization for that matter. Madam Omli, I am far from perfect, but I have the humilty to apologize when I am wrong. That is where I draw the line between us. You have the penchant for guessing who is who, which, by the way is a violation of the rules of enagagement in this forum. Your inane defense of GM Seares and the two times you wrote about who I am is a testament that you are a very poor judge of character. You don’t even have the humility to admit your faults and correct them. You indict ERIC SHAWN for his comments, but he has the humilty to apologize. Who is the greater person, Madam Omli, ERIC SHAWN or you?

  5. It’s unfortunate that problem with Abreco appears to be endless due to alleged mismanagement. This of course affects our lives as consumers. But look how a taxi driver considered problem n other negative things that come to our lives as rubbishes. Hopefully his opinion would change our outlook in life.

  6. @Pedro Abreno aka Political Analyst aka Mario Bang?

I am sorry I didn’t realize just now who you are. We had met I am sure of that. I am just realizing everything you saying. How I know you’re one person is that, you’re the only person who would know “I did not have a copy of the NEA Report, no one else except the GM and your informant from Abreco. You know almost everything I know about Abreco because of your informant. Don’t get me wrong, I am not upset. You knew what I was doing for Abreco because I told you everything thinking you’re someone I could trust and work with to help the GM. I know you hated the GM, but I was still willing to work with you for the betterment of Abreco. This was almost the election, my last contact with you. I sent you money to help me get a copy of the NEA Report I did not get at the time. You promised me. I did not hear from you. I sent a mutual friend to your office to tell you I had been trying to reach you. You told him you will and never did. And now, you want me to listen to you to advice the GM, Jun Seares to step down?

    Posted by comli2013 | December 9, 2014, 6:12 pm
    • Madam Omli, you have never been so wrong in your life. It is an honor for me if people think I am Mario Bang because of his intelligence and sincere concern for our people. Remember, you also wrote before that you believe I was a woman? For the second time, Madam Omli, you are wrong. I do not even know you from Eve. I may know enough because I am a keen observer but I cannot measure up to the knowledge of Mario Bang. In the first place, I have never worked for the government. I have never and will never venture into politics. I worked hard for the simple things I have in my life. I do not need to suck up to any politician or government official to get ahead in life.
That aside, Madam Omli, whatever I know about the mess at ABRECO on or before the term of Jun Seares, I learned from the true patriot, SP James Bersamin, a very good friend. The rest of the information came from people working in ABRECO. I harbor no ill-feelings towards you or anyone, including those who abuse me through the use of gutter language. Rest assured that I respect your opinions even if at times I may not agree with them. The true nobility of a person is exemplified by the way he treats those whom he does not agree with. We can all live with our differences. Whenever we disrespect others especially those who are older than us, we disrespect ourselves. We can all debate through the use of lucid arguments without the use of threats and intimidation by those who feel they are above the law and act like they have the power to decide who will breathe his last. If you feel people have treated you unfairly and have abused you, I believe the best thing to do is to ignore them.

    • madam comli2013 PEDRO ABRENO is absolutely right by saying that you have never so wrong by your impression that I am PEDRO ABRENO or Political Analyst. I have never met you nor have i talked with you personally. I don’t even think that we have the same informant.
my knowledge of what is happening within ABRECO has somehow has its roots on personal experience. I saw the angst of the employees who this GM Seares have trodden because these employees would not follow his corrupt practice. I am not affected by his actions with regards to these employees but I could only feel for them and their families.
I could not be PEDRO ABRENO because we have different opinions when it comes to the start of this mess called ABRECO. MY friend pedro abreno claims that it started during the previous administration of ABRECO as he claims that his friend, the late SP James Bersamin have shown him papers to prove such. my source says otherwise. While it may be true that ABRECO had debts during the time of Marco Bautista, now mayor of San Juan, ABRECO was updated with its payments with its commitments. ABRECO was given incentives for paying before due date in the form of discounts. ABRECO had bank accounts in the different local banks. ABRECO was classified as a big depositor because it had large bank deposits.Local banks were all competing to get ABRECO to deposit in their bank. These local banks were collecting daily deposits from ABRECO. Now what?
The common argument we have with pedro abreno is that ABRECO deteriorated during Jun Seares’s watch. for the longest time, ABRECO was never threatened with disconnections from its power suppliers. It is only during the term of Jun Seares that notices of disconnections have been made.
madam omli, Jun Seares was very effective in his mask that he had shown you. Respectful? Good hearted? Respectful? WHAT ARE YOU KIDDING? You may have talked to a different person! Jun seares is Smart, yes, he was so smart to have fooled you. Resourceful? yes he really is, that in spite of the glaring anomalies he has done, he is still able to cover it up. quiet? yes he is, so very silent that in years he was able to evade talking to the consumers thru an assembly.

  8. @Lubnak…I spent 10K of my own money 2-yrs ago to find out what can I do to help our kakaillian in regards to the electricity disconnections. If i remember good, it was about the same time…few days before X’mas. I wroteletters to Aboitiz & CDA to negotiate just incase Abreco could not come up with the money. I had investors that time who were willing to loan the amount needed, for our province not to have the disconnection during the holidays. Inaramidko amin nga kabaelak because I care for the people of Abra. Now, tell me…am I only enjoying about what’s happening?

I am working alone finding the best way for a better management of Abreco. I don’t think that the solution is for the GM to step-down or resign. He just have to be tougher and more responsible on some areas. LET NO POLITICIAN
interfere in the affairs of Abreco. Cut down unnecessary labor cost. Do not lend money to outsiders. Abreco is not a bank or Credit Union. Concentrate on accounts receivables…Advances especially. By-Laws of Abreco must be strictly followed. Terms of BOD’s must be reviewed.

These are a few of what I thought Abreco should start doing.

    Posted by comli2013 | December 10, 2014, 1:36 am
    • It is too late in the day for you, Madam Omli, to issue a call that no politician interfere in the affairs of ABRECO. GM Jun Seares is a politician, a loser in the mayoral elections. Marco Bautista, the GM before Jun Seares’s term is also a politician. Perhaps, that is the reason why ABRECO is in deep trouble. Ask your people to monitor the conduct of the district elections so they will see for themselves how local politicians manipulate the elections. You forgot to include the convening of the general assembly where consumer/members can scrutinize the finances of the cooperative. That is the forum where Jun Seares can cleanse his name that he alleges to have been tarnished by unjust accusations. It is both unfortunate and deplorable that he can explain to you but not to the real stakeholders – the consumer members who were forced to pay capital share. It is also the forum where he can spill the beans on his predecessor from whom he claims to have inherited a cooperative deeply mired in debt. The call of consumer/members for a general assembly is deafening. An innocent man would want nothing better than a chance to face his accusers. “The innocent are as brave as a lion”. His refusal to convene an assembly despite the fact that ten percent of the member/consumers have signed a petition a number of times speak volumes about his guilt. Again, “to whom much is given, much is required”. This is as simple as I can put it.

I believe they will admire you more if the time and effort you’re using here will be spent more to your NGO. Why don’t you conduct a secret survey of the membership and let’s hear what the majority think? By the way, isn’t it that your NGO is also against corruption? What have you done so far or in any success so far? Di la mabalin nga makita met ti publico ti Accomplishment ken Audit Reports yo?
