APRI has agreed to defer ABRECO disconnection until further notice as the cooperative settled the amount of Php9.25 million out of the required Php13.76 million it owed.
In a statement by an APRI representative via email, APRI has agreed to a payment schedule for the balance, with specified dates and amounts. Likewise, Abreco is required to process their membership to the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). “The cooperative is expected to comply with these two conditions”, the representative said.
Should the cooperative fail to comply again to these conditions, APRI will have no choice but to request a disconnection. (abrenian.com)

What I cannot stomach is the way they have mismanaged ABRECO. You may be gloating that the GM and his board are untouchable. May I respectfully remind you that no one is above the law. There is an appointed time for everything.

If this is about maintenance then at least give notice beforehand and not on the time when power is needed. If this is just about screwing with us then I’d suggest leaving your posts.

They too are not qualified with their current sworn duties, otherwise the rise and fall of Abreco would have been prevented in the first place. Reorganize or better yet, kick out them all if we want an honest or better service. Mismanagement of Abreco only shows their inefficiency as business managers and insult or dishonor to the President.

TAGAMASID, brickbats will come our way from all directions because of our stand on the ABRECO mess issue. The vigil held at the St. James Cathedral last Thursday by members of civil society, the Church and the youth speak so eloquently about the cry of our people for a more professional and honest management of ABRECO. This is a cause larger than ourselves, a cause worth fighting for. We will be insulted, derided and bashed by those who know no better and have nothing better to do. Let us ignore inane comments. They are not worth our while. Let us remain steadfast and all the more vigilant. These are the price we pay for a better and kinder society. if I may enumerate to you the pertinent issues about the mess at ABRECO for the enlightenment of those who may have been misguided: 1) repeated failure of ABRECO to pay Aboitiz Power the monthly electricity purchased by the same leading to 7 notices of disconnection, the last of which was Nov. 17 and moved to Nov. 19.; 2) failure of ABRECO to adhere to agreements with NGCP resulting in ABRECO’s failure to become a member of the WESM as proposed by Aboitiz Power; 3) failure of ABRECO to pay Aboitiz Power a security deposit of 32M PHP resulting in the payment of 780,000 PHP monthly as penalty, escalating per month.; 4) the Comprehensive Audit Report of NEA showing deep financial, technical and institutional problems covering the period June 2010 to June 2013.; 5) arrears of more than 400M PHP with the Power Sectora Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM); 6) failure of the ABRECO management to convene a General Assembly or a Special Assembly in the past 2 years despite two resolutions signed by 10 percent of the members submitted to the Board of Directors asking for a Special General Assembly dated Nov. 28, 2012 with 4,332 signatories as of Dec. 27, 2012 and January 9, 2013 with 3,239 signatories as of Feb. 1, 2013.;7) except for one member, terms of office of all other members of the Board of Directors have expired. (Since January 2007, ABRECO conducted only 3 district elections; 8) GM Loreto Seares, Jr. in his affidavit submitted to the DOE indicated that “in the event a Notice of Disconnection is served by any of the 2 creditors for non-payment of monthly bills and the same remains to be unsettled, on the 6th day after receipt of notice or the day prior to the disconnection date thereof, I undertake to voluntarily and freely step aside from my duties and powers as General Manager of ABRECO and will allow the DOE to appoint and designate a non-partisan observer”.
TAGAMASID, don’t just take my word for it. Subject everything I wrote above to careful scrutiny. These are supposed to be public documents and therefore you will not have any difficulty checking. It is just a part of the letter to President Aquino that so many of our people, myself included, have signed. By the way, together with the letter, a copy of the Comprehensive Audit Report of NEA will also be given to Preaident Aquino. May the FORCE be with us, TAGAMASID.

If you dig deeper you may actually see all the evils in our society and might get the surprise of your life to finally come up in the realization that the self is also corrupted. The scripture mentioned that “None is righteous no not one”. Tons of case were filled at the office Ombudsman already. But our justice system was so slow to finally give its verdict. It will took at least a decade to to get the case done. People are already tired of these vicious circles of violence and corruptions that was embedded in the human culture. Does any of the political frameworks were able to solve it? not at all. I am in firm belief that prayers can solve these problems. We have prayed for the coming together of conscientious individual centering on the churches. The spiritual power of prayers cannot be discounted. Abra is the bastion of SVD Mission in the Philippines, that may explains the spiritual root of the province of Abra. Early Missionaries went as far as the hinterlands to spread the Words to the natives. That may distinguish the spirituality of our Tinguian brothers with other natives in the Cordilleras. May we renew our call for people of the Churches for prayer and repentance. This will be our strength that we maybe vigilant, to protect our society from these few evil individual who are sowing havoc in the lives of our people. Prayers can move mountain, let alone if we have Gods word to be the pillars in our battle to free Abra from the dogs.

But as a highest leader of the province supporting a move to improve services for Abrenians is worth appreciating for him not considering the negative impact to his political career. However, it is not I nor anybody else to judge the governor’s Motive. It is only him and God know the truth. As when The Lord said to the apostles” be wise as a serpent and innocent as a dove”. The serpent as the most subtle animal is being considered crafty evil responsible for corrupting mankind through the infamous tree of knowledge in the garden of Eden.
The call of Naeling for a continuous prayer for God’s mercy is worthy of support. This has been the long festering problem in the affairs of the ABRECO. Even the private affairs of the ABRECO were manipulated by politicians. They treated it as part and parcel of the spoils of the elections to be given to whom they wish as they wish. Politicians must keep their dirty and itchy hands off the ABRECO. It is a private cooperative. The only reason why civil society resorted to seeking the help of Pres. Noynoy Aquino is because of the climate of fear created by politicians who think and act like God.These politicians think they are above the law even bragging that Sec Petilla is on their side.

I don’t really understand how this shameful culture was developed by Pilipino race when history shows that we used to be known for our word of honor,honesty, integrity, bravery against tyranny and nationalism. It is really disheartening, while we are now allChristian, honorable qualities is already nothing , but the value of glitter of gold and power is the supreme consideration. I don’t know whom or where to blame of these evils, if schools or churches or parents themselves or government for lack of political will. We have professed our love to God but often fall short in loving other people. We are shouting for freedom from the bondage of corruption and violence, but the thing is, the self is also enslaved by sin and Satan (John 8:44). Saint Paul also lamented, “with my mind I am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh I am a slave to the law of sin ” (Romans 7:25). What we can do is to “pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances. Hold fast to what is good; abstain from every form of evil” (1 Thess 5:16-22). If we are desiring for change, humble ourselves to God first, recognized our sinfulness and make an effort to fight the devil in us. Only then that we can ask people, and those leaders to end their wickedness and be true to their sworn duty. Righteousness is finding its way to the heart of the people. We are going to witness more of these mass actions. People in position cannot continuously pretend that they are good and unblemished. Falsehood will not go the distance, it will come to an end, while the truth of will surely shines.

What we have in Abra is a climate of fear, a culture of silence amidst the evil happening around us. Evil men would like nothing better than to perpetuate this situation.
A blogger in this forum even derided us by referring to us as “those who “yup” too much, whatever she meant by “yup” because from what I know “yup” is just another word for “yeah”, a slang word for “yes” and therefore cannot be used as a verb. Perhaps, like the abusive officials in both the government and the private sector, she wants us to remain silent even when we see wrongs being done.
At my age, I have seen how occassional failure to exorcise the ghosts in governance and leadership has weakened government and institutions. Will is often necessary to ram through painful reforms that are necessary to ensure equality and fairness. Time will vindicate unpopular actions that take the bull by its horn, accepting short-term disruption in exchange for long-term peace. Too often, we opt for uneasy silence, falsely hoping that ceasefires can be forever. Instead of meaningfully settling problems caused by wayward leaders, we opt for a temporary cessation of hostilities to preserve peace.
According to St. Augustine. “peace is the tranquility of order”. When things are what they are naturally meant to be, there is peace even if there is deafening noise. But when things are not quite they ought to be, there is no peace even if silence envelops a place. As a matter of fact, that silence can be more deafening than noise. It is wrong to say that there is peace in the land because there are no heated exchanges even if wrongs are done with impunity by the very leaders who are supposed to serve us.
Let us choose the path that is right but difficult over that which is expedient. Time rewards the courage of those who insist on resolutions and closures. It makes regretful those who choose the cowardice of compromise and the bankruptcy of fence-sitting. They are the true cowards.

For one, all your posts in a.com were directed to attack wrongdoings and are correctly put in proper perspective. I suppose that you once thought of running for a public office. It would have made you into a better position to change our rotten society. Just like everybody else who seeks answers to the many problems that plague us, I have come into a conclusion that only the truth of God can transform our wicked society into godly one. Buddha for example who once lived in the palace as prince, but with his enlightenment, he understood that the only resolution of these problems is through a state of emptiness, a benevolent heart, and tranquility within. Saint Francis of Assisi turns his back to materialism and lived an ascetic life since his fateful spiritual awakening. The American democracy was born out of the belief in God. If our leaders will come to the same awakening they will surely turn direction 180 degrees. Thus, we have made this call for all conscientious people to unite centering on the churches and to continuously pray for repentance and enlightenment.
