Camp Bado Dangwa, Benguet — Two high-ranking officials of the Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO) are set to be relieved of their posts on Wednesday in a bid to improve the anti-crime drive in this province, following the killing of newsman-turned-administrative officer of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, Jack Turqueza.

Chief Superintendent Isagani Nerez, Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PROCOR), said Senior Supt. Virgilio Laya, officer-in-charge of the Abra PPO, will be replaced by Sr. Supt. Albertlito Garcia, while Supt. Mario Mayames, Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) chief, will be replaced by Supt. Lambert Suerte.

“I started the reshuffle in Abra because I saw their low performance, especially on crime prevention, Nerez said.

  1. Good move supt. Nerez. This Laya is similar to former PD Bird who made the Lunas from worse to worst making Abra in its peak as the killing field of the North. Duwag ito si laya or he is sharing the loot of Demonio n JB baboy for their loot of people’s money so we are back to kabayo n the Lunas Era. Abra hopes that supt Garcia will show his harder balls and PPS Suerte is really suerte for us who have been dreaming for peace n justice for a long time.

    • A long time coming. SS Laya had a mouthful to say upon his appointment as Abra Provincial Police Director. It turns out it was mere lip service. This officer could not walk his talk. When it comes to security for local officials and their own men, the Abra Police are quick to file cases. But when it comes to Jack Turqueza and other lesser mortals, the investigation may take forever. Wow, what can I say? There is no place for officials like them in the service. It is their sworn duty to serve and protect the people. Mayor JB Bernos can very well protect himself from his political enemies. It is us, mere mortals, defenseless and helpless in the midst of the culture of death in this benighted province who need protection. Never mind our provincial and municipal officials because they are too busy lining their pockets with taxpayers’ money. They are a hopeless lot. Not one of them has offered a reward for the arrest of the cowards who murdered Jack Turqueza. I will not be surprised if the murder of Jack Turqueza becomes a mere statistic in the very long list of unsolved murders in Abra. Do our provincial and local officials care? Hell, NO. When will we ever learn? Are you still willing to vote for these do-nothing officials in the next elections?
