Jestonie Acosta of Acosta Coffee
I’m always has been a coffee lover. Nothing beats a good cup of coffee in the morning.
While vacationing in Abra, someone tried to serve me the 3-in-1 coffee (apparently a very popular instant coffee with the mixture of creamer and sugar), I frawned to the idea. You got to be kidding me, I said to myself.
I had a chance to talk to Jestonie Acosta fo Acosta Coffee while on vacation in Abra.
Jestonie is the owner of Acosta Coffee.
Acosta coffee is a delicious blend of Arabica and Robusta flavor grown in the highlands of Tineg, Abra. The coffee is picked by Itneg tribe from Agsimao and Caganayan and the Binongan tribe of Baay-Licuan. The coffee is naturally grown and no preservatives.
Jestonie is very soft spoken but quite determined. He explain how he came about promoting his coffee.
He was once a Criminology student but due to hardship, he stopped. Instead of giving up, he saw the oppurtunity to bring the Abra-grown coffee into the mainstream.
Historically, he says his family grows the coffee just for their own consumption. But with the proliferation of coffee shops like starbucks, he opined that why not Abra coffee?
Abra Coffee has just been established a year ago. Jestonie is busy going around trying to promote his product. He also established a contact in Manila to help sell his product.
Jestonie hoped to open a coffee shop soon in Bangued to give a chance for locals the taste of naturally grown local coffee.
Before parting ways, I bought everything he had during the interview. I brought it home to the U.S. and to this day, I’m still enjoying it. Now who needs 3-in-1 if you can have Acosta Coffee.

Posted by MOKONG | April 16, 2014, 12:46 amBut “IF” you’re suffering from high blood/hypertension, it’s not advisable to drink coffee, black or decaf, especially when you mix any kind of sweetener in it. It’s better to drink unsweetened Cocoa instead which also act as 1st-aid/stabilizer when your BP become abnormal. But garlic pill is still the best for abnormal BP in addition to your prescribed maintenance medicine. Talk to your pharmacist/doctor for confirmation or lolo/la if they still have some garlic before the drug company will convert them into pills.
