THE new regional director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Cordillera recently revealed his priority programs this 2014, saying that he will embed respect in the police force above other priorities.
Police Chief Superintendent Isagani Nerez said he will train policemen in the region to be respectful at all times.
This is his number one priority program this new year.
“Education is useless if the person does not know how to respect people around him” is the slogan of Nerez in attaining his goal.
The second priority of the Procor leader is to avail of technologies to help in crime solution. He identified the fingerprint identification system as one of the technologies they need in the police force.
Nerez revealed his third priority is to train investigators on effective mediation. He explained mediation is still the best way to solve conflicts between two groups. He said it is better to solve than to file the case in court because once filed in court, the effects will be tripled. With this, he said the tripled effects of the case in court will also affect the community whom the policemen serve.
The new regional director assumed office last month after former Regional Director Benjamin Magalong was assigned as head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Nerez had earlier said he will not only continue what Magalong started but will enhance the programs for the development of Procor.
Nerez is a graduate of Philippine Military Academy “Maharlika” Class of 1984. He served as commander and staff of the country’s anti-kidnapping group, the Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response, CIDG, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force, and PNP Special Action Force, among others from 2004 to 2007.

NOW, CHIEF SUPT. NEREZ SHOULD BE FIT TO PROVIDE AND PROTECT THIS PLACE ABRA FOR A BETTER AND HONEST JOB,BETTER THAN HOW MAGALONG HANDLE THE POLITICIANS UNPRESEDENTED PROBLEMS. BEING A LEADER SEAT IN YOUR POSITION AND NEVER LOOK AND INTEREST WITH CONGRESWOMAN AND MAYORS OF ABRA’S PROPAGANDAS. BEING A POLICE ARE THE ONE TO TAKE CARE OF PEOPLES CRIME AND LAW, SO REJECT-
ALL POLITICAL BAD ISSUES AND CRIMES OF ABRA LEAD BY ALL POLITICIANS IN THIS PLACE!
GOOD LUCK AND SERVE WELL…
Welcome to Abra. The home of the killing fields of the north. Good luck to you Sir.
We Need Action, Sir! Talk is cheap. Don’t be like your predecessor. He has done nothing but talk.
Your arrival sir Nerez gives Abra a new hope. To be fair, supt. Magalong together wit pd Lusad made awesome performance in their first yr in Abra. Some Pags weire neutralized, either killed or forced to surrender. We thought this will last forever, only to see the truth that he was helpless or had done nothing good on his 2nd year to all crimes committed. The father son of the Bernoses case, vote buying, murders of brgy captais were all gone to ashes. While Lagayan, an opposition is pressured, Bangued, Lapaz, n other mun controlled by The Valeras n the Bernuses remained living their mercy n fear because of Pags.
Again, Magalong made a great difference in his first year, you started a good few days. Zero crimes during Xmas season up to now is a new record of peace in Abra. We pray for the Lord’s guidance n your protection to help us realize a long dream of peace, decent governance and corrupt free leadership in Abra.
Napigpigsa man da Gob iti PNP itan ta PMA grad ti baro nga RD PNP. Dagitay backer ni Gob nga taga-Lagangilang ket PMA “mistah” dagitoy. Sapay koma ta usaren ni Gob ti kapet na iti PNP RD iti pagsayaatan ti probinsiya saan la nga para ti bolsana.
It’s odd that in gun-toting Abra, where intermittent gung-ho killings have rendered its people benumbed, the prioritized concern of the PNP should be ‘finishing’ OR, as they say in the high end fashion world and in the la-di-dah society sector – ‘deportment’. How did the uniformed men in the force qualify at all to do police-work in the first place if as basic as ETHIC and as vital as RESPECT, these are YET TO BE TAUGHT to them? Weren’t they pre-qualified for the task? And haven’t these men taken oath to ‘serve and protect the citizenry?’ The oath to their duties should bear with it the tacit codicil of respect and ethic. (Immediately, by their being awarded the title- ‘officer’, they should have been more than qualified to teach ethic and respect, rather than them getting educated about these vital pre-requisites yet!) Sure, it is always helpful to have ‘continuous improvement’ program and development training in any workforce. It is however of prime necessity that strategic steps to assuage people’s fears against violence, thievery and harassment are developed and implemented before anything else.
Days ago, GMA Balita Aminan reported that only 20 percent of Pangasinan Police Force passed the reassessment exam. The flanks committed by police officers connotes that these men in uniform has insufficient knowledge of the things they supposed to know and be doing as a police officer. It ranges from technicalities in crime handling to values necessary to a police officer. It’s no surprise why Police Chief Superintendent Isagani Nerez make these programs to be his prelude as he took the helm of the Cordillera Police force.

He said the PNP will train their police to be respectful at all times. What about the two cop shot in Licuan Baay, the drunk maniacs are not respectful at all forcing the lady to dance. And worse, the PNP wants to defend them by listening only to their side of the story, probably because one of them is chief of foolice. Any update on that from the PNP? Nadaaaa. Magalong is better.
If the pnp personnel inDeed displayed behavoir of conduct unbecoming then he can be charged administratively but shooting him by another public oficial is unaaceptable especially a corrupt politician is behind the shooting incident
The foolish officer involved who was shot had a lot of troubles in his previous station when drunk. He was reprimanded many times by his uncle, a once PNP pd of Abra, but to no avail. Suwerte niya at ang kanyang familya at hindi napurohan sa tatlong tama. Sana’y ito ang leksiyon niya sa buhay malapit pa naman ang kanyang reirement at grabe ang medical problem ang isa sa kanyang mga anak. Probably the new PNP leadership does not wantt to turnish his performance so the actual incident wasnot exposed as it really happened. For this foolish officer with unbecoming behavior, it is a hard lesson for you . God gives you anew life. Be thankful and have a new heart. Prove to Him that you deserve His Kindness and to be called a police officer not FOOLISH ONE. God bless you and your kid.
