Violence grips Abra town

The lifeless body of Nelson "Basong" Felicitas of Pidigan, Abra

The lifeless body of Nelson “Basong” Felicitas of Pidigan, Abra

Elections are over but violence still grips the town of Pidigan. A former Barangay Captain was gunned down yesterday. The victim, Nelson “Basong” Felicitas, of Naguirayan,  Pidigan, sustained multiple gun shot wound in the head.

If you recall another Barangay captain was also killed before the Barangay Elections.

What’s behind this renewed violence in Pidigan? According to our source, this could be due to an incident between the current Mayor Jansenn Valera and husband Domino Valera (an elected Sangunian Bayan of the same town),  had a fight in full view of municipal employees. The mayor has since been seen living at the Municipal Building.

Because of this incident, the Mayor, in an apparent retaliation of her being humilated in public abruptly ordered the ceasing of the operations of Hueteng in this town. The mayor’s husband is said to be the collector of the number game’s proceeds.

The killing of Felicitas could be related to the public rift between the Mayor and his husband according our sources. You can call it collateral damage, the source says.

  2. Merry xmas fellow participants in A.com! To welcome the coming of Our Savior, let Love, peace n joy reign supreme inside our hearts. Let us also forgive others trespasses as The Lord forgive ours. Peace Naeling.
Adu ti maad-adalko ditoy nga forum particularly from P. Abrenio, Macaraeg, Hennessy, Glen, E. Shawn, kenca Naeling, etc. Padasek man reconstrucken tay impost ko tay parbangon kas comment ko ti naisuratmo ditoy Naeling pangguep ti minatay tayo which was like this( I hope I remember right) ‘ the best thing that we can do is to pray for them and to honor them. That their soul will be consoled and to ease their pain. Ti panagawatko ti Pontormo ket makatulong ti kararag nga mangator ti nagbasolan ti maysa nga natayen. Ngem ti tao laeng, bokod na nga bagi ti makabael nga mangisalakan ti biagna (soul) babaen ti panagpakawan ti basbasolna sakbay ti ipapatayna, kas dinakamatmo met laeng. I believe, based from my bible study that no amount of prayers from us, nor amount of money from corrupt people, will be able to save the souls of the dead. Ti liwliwa tayo kadagiti minatay tayo ket daytoy, “the dead are at rest; they do not suffer”.john 11:11. Even Rizal in his last line in The Last Farewell said ” in death, there is rest”. To be saved, and to have hope for everlasting life, man must repent, ask forgiveness to God for all sins committed, and must have a new heart and spirit.
To help others especially the criminal minded leaders is to pray The Lord power, thru the Holy Spirit for change of hearts and mind while they are still alive for the sake of better life in Abra and for their salvation to enjoy perfect life in the new earth, Revelation 21:3-4.

    • Sandy Hook shooting victims remembered
      Last updated: 15 December 2013

One year after once of the worst school shootings in US history, gun control is again in the spotlight.
US President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle observed a minute of silence on the first anniversary of the Sandy Hook school shooting on Saturday.

The Obamas lit 26 candles at the White House for the 20 children and six school workers who died in Newtown, Connecticut, when a gunman opened fire last December.

“We have to do more to keep dangerous people from getting their hands on a gun so easily,” said the president. “We have to do more to heal troubled minds. We have to do everything we can to protect our children from harm and make them feel loved, and valued, and cared for.”

Gunman Adam Lanza killed his mother inside their Newtown home on December 14, 2012, before driving to Sandy Hook elementary school, where he carried out his rampage. The children he killed were all aged six and seven years old.

The 20-year-old killed himself as police arrived.

Newtown officials asked for quiet and privacy on the anniversary.

      Inaction in Washington

After the Newtown tragedy, Connecticut passed several new gun control and mental health measures, but a similar nationwide effort pushed by President Obama failed in the US Senate.

The group Mayors Against Illegal Guns says there have been 28 school shootings since Newtown.

Anti-gun violence campaigners gathered in front of the National Rifle Association (NRA) headquarters in Virginia to mark the first anniversary of the school shooting.

A divided Congress denied President Barack Obama’s calls for changes and the national gun lobby, led by the NRA, is arguably stronger than ever.

“Congress has failed to enact any sensible reform to our nation’s lax gun laws ” said Martina Leinz, president of the Northern Virginia Chapter of Million Mom March, the grassroots arm of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

“There is one simple reason for this and it’s the organisation behind me, right here, the National Rifle Association,” she added.

The inaction in Washington underscores the ongoing potency of the NRA and other gun rights groups in Congress where Republicans oppose stricter gun laws and many Democrats are reluctant to anger voters.

“I believe that the shooting at Newtown was a paradigm shift in the American conscience,” Leinz added.

    • Good tidings pagayam Tagamasid. Thank you for taking time to read my posts. I do read your posts and gut your message right. Unlike when our ideas collides on some issues I am happy with the way you analyses and critic things this time around. Naibagam nga kayat mo ti makiinnadal. I am afraid that we might be accused of making this forum as a venue for evangelization. Merry Christmas Gayyem Syoke. However I would like to give my thoughts on your query in a minute.

      • Our deceased love ones still need our prayers for them pagayam Tagamasid. Hebrews 11:39-40 said: And all these (Mga minatay natin), though well attested by their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had foreseen something better for us (Tayo na nandito sa lupa), that apart from us (Sila na nga taong ispirito) they should not be made perfect. Most Christians believed this way so that they continue to offer prayers for their love ones. Only few groups or churches teaches the other way around. Here is the logic; Our physical body grows through partaking foods as well as air and sunlight. On the other hand, our spirits grows through the good deeds and prayers made by the physical body. In a sense, if you do good deeds, your spirit automatically a good spirit and vice versa. If one discard its physical life, he lives as a spirit person and could no longer get the good elements to grow. However this spirit person can still receive vitality elements from the physical person’s (relatives or friends) good deeds and prayers on earth. Marami rin nga pangyayari, na ang isang ispirito ay humihingi ng tulong sa nga tao dito sa lupa. Pagayam Tagamasid, I suggest you may read books on spiritual phenomena. These are true accounts of people who visited the spiritual world and wrote their experiences in the incorporeal world. Truth are just all around us, we have only to recognize them.

        Posted by naeling | December 17, 2013, 7:24 pm
        • If I may relay some of the scenes they witnessed while visiting the spirit world: A woman continuously digs on the ground. It was explained that these woman was so immersed with his wealth while living on earth. One man has his sex organ extending yards down to the ground; this man lives his life on earth full of immorality. A man continuously knifed another man; this is the person who kills him ( he does the same thing to his killer, not once but perhaps a thousand times). One woman has her mouth sewed; reason being is she have used his mouth to destroy the life of others. This is the scenes in hell actually. More tragic scene pagayam Tagamasid: One dictator confessed that he eats human organs while still living on earth to cure his disease, he end up eating dogs’ organ in the spirit world. Some people saw ugly spirits, the looks of an animal, these are the spirits of people who have live their life on earth like animals do. Crazy? If people will understand this point then they may scrambles to indemnify and amend their sins while still alive. We are talking here of eternity compared to our life here on earth which is only about 90 year average. You may want to know how long is eternity; a thread is extending down to earth from the moon, an ant will carry a grain of sand to the moon and goes down again to carry all the sands back and forth from earth to moon. That is eternity.

        • There is one more thing that I want to shed light pertaining on the relationship of men on earth and spirit men. Nandito na rin lang tayo. A woman was complaining of severe back pain. She went into a known spiritualist for healing. The spiritualist was able to determine the cause. The Grandfather of the woman stabs a man on his back that cause his death. The man’s spirit gut his way to avenged his death by giving pain in the grand daughter’s body. Kung baga ang nagbayad ay yong anak. To supplement my argument, here is another story: A man went abroad for a job. He earns a substantial amount of money. He went back home for a vacation after sometime. At the airport, he was attacked by robbers and all his earning were gone just like that. Was it a petty crimes committed by some? to make my story short, the man’s father who is now at the spiritual word have committed crimes of robbery hence suffered in hell due to this sin. Now the father’s hope is for the son to pay for his sin. How? if the son who was robbed at the airport will not curse those who have robbed his earnings instead be thankful to God that he is still alive and does not harbor any ill feelings, perhaps even forgive those who attacked him. That time the father who is in hell is released form this chain of sin. That is how we people on earth can help those in the spirit world. somehow we may say, the hope of those spirits is us who are still living on earth.

      • With due respect to sir Sysop, ant fellow bloggers, I believe any place is a desirable place to share the words of God. Jesus had done this in His short time of ministry on earth. Sagsagidenta kabsat ni Naeling ti linaon ti biblia daytoy kas wagas nga mangator ti kinakaro nga kinadakes ti lugar tayo. Amok nga arapaap ti Abra ti nadalus, natalna, ken na linteg nga panagbiag. Rebbengna laeng kas maysa nga Kristiano nga maiparaman ti kaaruba dagiti napipintas nga banbanag. Ti pudno nga panangayat ti Dios ket panangtungpal ti bilbilenna . He said “if you love Me, keep my commandments”.
Let us continue praying for our leaders for change of values. Ikarkarag tayo koma ti pananglunag ti Dios ti puspusoda ta alliawendan dagiti marigrigat, ken tangadenda ti ngato nga mangkitkita kanayon ti aramidda, nga ti namnama laeng biag nga awan patinggana ket pananglaksid ti kinagartem ( lust ) ti amin nga material ken physical nga banag.

        Posted by TAGAMASID | December 17, 2013, 10:50 pm
        • And if I may add: Our spirit (karurua?) is so dirty or full of sins. Because of this, our physical body suffers all kinds of infirmities and we keep lacking different kinds of material/emotional needs (as if something is always missing or an emptiness) not to mention the mental torture that renders sleepless nights, among others Ask this to the thief politicians and other sinners like us and I guess they will lie on their teeth and even denying that they are using drugs or alcohol just to forget their dilemma for a while. (Ania, umapal tayo pay laeng kadakuada wenno maibaga tayo nga ikarkaro da met laeng ti panangparparigat da kadatayo?). Eventually, these medium will affect or eat slowly their excellent health but they can’t stop using them, otherwise, they’ll suffer anxiety or depression that makes them more crazier. Is there any way out?
YES, just keep reading everything pertaining to the Word of God. As a starter, cleanse first your soul/spirit by asking forgiveness of your sins, and do your best not to sin no more. The blood of Jesus Christ had already washed our sins and what we only have to do is to ask for forgiveness. Ask from any true believer for guidance or proper way of renewing your heart, mind, and spirit. And it’s more effective if you will forgive in your heart those who have sinned against you and let our justice system handles the rest. Be helpful/generous even to the “agpalpalama” loitering along the streets and share your knowledge whenever and wherever you are even to those who are less educated or poor among the poorest.
When you persistently doing this, you will feel indescribable feeling (parang nabunotan ng tinik ika nga) or your mind “biglang magliwanag” which you could even feel Divine courage to go anywhere you want to go and to do anything rightful you want to do because of the unwavering Faith that envelopes you. That signals the forgiveness of your sins or your soul have been cleansed and now time to reap and enjoy its rewards. Perhaps one of them is, the invisible Force will awaken the reluctant mind and heart of your constituents including yours and back you up as their candidate during election. I think that’s what happened to our one and only of its kind President, Benigno Aquino III.

    • with my understanding of the comments of sweet dreams i see a woman taking the cudgels of another woman. my friend bartek tuleng, i see you are a man. the society we have in the philippines that includes our province is a double standard society. if a married man gets a concubine, we see that guy as macho but if a married woman gets another man, we call her a prostitute or in vernacular “puta” i am a man but looking at things that transpired, i stand to what i posted also in this thread. i am not blaming anybody about the illicit affair if indeed there is, until i see proof of that. what bother me most is the violence that domino did to jansenn, that act is still in violation of the rights of women and children even for whatever reason why domino did that to jansenn. i am not taking the cudgels of jansenn but i am pertaining to human right. there are other recourse that domino could do if indeed jansenn is having an affair to another man, he could file a case of adultery which is punishable by inprisonment or this could be ground for divorce or another is he could file a case against jb for concubinage. ehy didn’t he just do that rather than hurting her physically infront of so many people. is he afraid of lossing jansenn or is he afraid of confronting jb . your guess is as good as mine.

  10. I will now rest my case , this is my last comment on this issue . I did not like the mayor before because I thought she has the same values like her family by marriage . I had been supporting the other side all along because I don´t like the way they are behaving , the family by marriage . They are using the funds that are supposedly for the people of Abra and using it like it´s theirs for their private funds to use for their whims . I don´t support corruption , I hate it , because it makes the Philippines rated as a third world country that many of the population seeks fortunes abroad . There are some or many that achieve success and unfortunately are there also many who fails . And these people who fails or are still in poverty are the ones they ( the corrupt politicians ) are committing a grave sin . For me , the infidelity which you people are accusing Janssen , is mild in comparison with the crimes these other people which you defend committed against God , their countries , fellowmen and humanity . With the so called infidelity , the people who suffers are a few and they can recuperate later on with the help of a new love or psychologists . But murder , stealing , greed and denying people who are poor their right to live a better life by not giving them what is due them is even worse in my opinion and in the eyes of God and cannot be cured , taken back . I think that Janssen has made her choice , she has her reasons which we may never know of , but it is not our business and is not a reason to commit murder . God bless you all , have a merry xmas and a prosperous new year and hope for a miracle .That miracle is for us to have leaders that will only have one goal , and that is to make the province better and make the people of Abra´s life better .

  15. Kakabsat Bodowan Nailing, Mario Bang n etc., let us pray for peace for the bereaved members of families of recent crime victims and so with Mayor Jansen n family who was the center of chismis in this thread. Let us also continue to pray for God’s love and power to change abra leaders for not just human but to be God fearing human like what He had done to Saint Paul from blood thirsty Saul to be one of the most famous saint to serve God on earth.
We are all sinners and God sent n sacrificed His son, the Lord, to redeem our sins because Heloves us so much. But we only deserve His love by confession of sin, ask for forgiveness and a change of heart n spirit. To have joy on earth while waiting for the return of The Lord is to have Jesus first in our hearts, others next, then yourself last (JOY: Jesus, others, yourself). To do the opposite is the root of all miseries in this World.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

In the final analysis, words mean nothing.as most everyone here needs updated education so they can preach like an apostle They are labels we give things in an effort to wrap our puny little brains around their underlying natures, when ninety-nine percent of the time the totality of the reality is an entirely different beast. The wisest man is the silent one. that’s Gov. The backbone of leadership is character and character is nothing if it acquiesces however tacitly to wrongdoing.

    • Luther king was a great man who fought for justice and equality. Like other great leaders, and even Early disciples and The Son of Man Himself suffered humiliations and death not for being talkative but for campaigning for truth. Pedro abrenio is no equal to these great but his thoughts and purpose is to seek justice, peace n a better Abra. How many among us have the heart and mind with such noble caliber? We should be greatful that with his age and comfort, he is still sharing us his wisdom to pursue better governance in Abra- the only road for a better life for the long abused Abrenians.

  30. Being an inwardly righteous person is what it takes to not screw up Pedro Abreno or ex gov Vicsyd. Can you find it within yourself to appreciate what that means? And even at that, people will still claim that you are wrong for being “right”. That is why I don’t trust the criticism of Gov Takit If a person in leadership wants to confront evil, wherever it may be found, there will always be those who simply hate a leader for that.

It’s time to stop listening to the screaming (reactionary) heads.

    Posted by Gakkong | January 3, 2014, 6:05 pm
    • Pagayam Gakkong, unless we see a strong leadership in Abra, a strong political will to curb the killings and corruptions, there will always be reactionaries the likes of PA and Eric Shawn. That is a part of human nature. We continuously seek for absolute goodness. By the way, some people claims as you do that PA is Vicsyd. Does the IP address of Pedro Abrenio locates to the ex-gov cell? I am just curious. God bless.

        • If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader
His quote, along with tens of thousands of other great quotes on leadership, inspired me to find out more about what defines great leaders and to answer the age-old question of whether they are born or made. I have come to believe that the only innate elements of great leadership are passion and energy. Everything else can be taught.

Great leadership doesn’t happen overnight. There’s no 6-week course that will suddenly turn you into George Washington or Jack Welch. Great leadership is built brick by brick over many years with each decision and every mistake you make. Done correctly, great leadership stands on a rock solid foundation.

  31. This thought is supposed to be on Leonel- Christmas story, but couldnt post it. It is hope sit Sysop accept it.
Kabsat Nailing, thank you for all the thoughts you shared in this a.com. True to your claim, there are many symbolic words found in the bible, especially in the book of Daniel and in Revelation. But on topic of new earth and everlasting fire, I wish to mention here verses to justify that my belief that these are real. In OT, Isaiah 66:17 ” for behold, I create new heaven and new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered ……” In the NT, Revelation 22:1 “now I (John) saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth passed away. Also there was no More sea”. Even Rev. 21:4. “…….,.for the former things passed away”

Concerning everlasting fire, Matthew 25:31-36 “……..what you have done to the least of my people,to others, you did to me” “…….and these will go to the everlasting fire but the righteous to everlasting life”.

It appears that there are conflicting verses in the bible; This probably caused the growth of numerous religions in the world. This also implies the limited capability man to be able to grasp God’s absolute and infinite wisdom. Our concern who continue seeking the truth is to share whatever moral and spiritual knowledge to others who have gone astray- that wickedness will be judged to destructions and righteousness to everlasting life.

  32. Ex-Gov. Vicsyd is languishing in prison. Even if he is released tomorrow there is no way he can make a comeback. He is politically dead. He is not even in the radar screen anymore. The supporters of Gov. Takit seem to have this unending obsession with the ex- governor. They see his ghost where there is none. Six and a half years at the helm of leadership in our province, the supporters of Gov. Takit are still blaming the ex-governor for the mess that is Abra. Is that an admission that after six and half years Gov. Takit has not cleared up the mess left by the ex-governor? For the last time, may I request people participating in the different threads of Abrenian.com to view the home page so they may be enlightened that Abra.com was envisioned byEric Bringas, the chief architect, as a medium for those who are at times frustrated by violence and corruption that seems unabated despite the numerous changing of the guards. He could not have made it any clearer than that.
There are a number of people participating in the different threads of abrenian.com who express their support for Gov. Takit and many others praise him. They are all within their rights to do so. Having said that, may I ask people who do not share my views if i am not within my rights to express them? I honestly believe that a responsible leader takes note of criticisms and does something about them. I also honestly believe that only a true friend will tell you if there is dirt on your face.
Gov. Takit won as governor using “Thou shall not kill” as his mantra. Giant billboards sprung up in several parts of Bangued condemning the murder of his brother and many others. The sympathy votes and his promise of peace and end to violence propelled him to the top post of the province. But violence and murder continue to be committed with impunity. Even a member of his close-in security, Popoy Barbosa shot a person in a cockpit over a measly 300 peso bet. Gov. Takit said he would not countenance this wrongdoing. But Popoy Barbosa has been brought back as a member of the governor’s security team. Pray tell me, what message is the governor sending to the people of Abra?
The governor has been lavished praise for being wise due to his silence. I absolutely respect the rights of those who praise him for his silence. But I see it differently. I am so sorry but I am reminded of the proverbial monkey who “sees no evil, hears no evil and speaks no evil”. I have no personal beef with the governor, I am just an ordinary citizen who pays his taxes. If I join the chorus and praise the governor for doing nothing, do you honestly believe things will change for the better and we will have genuine peace and not the peace of the graveyard?
To be candid about it, we see the governor as the least evil when it comes to Abra politics. I and members of my family were ready to vote for him in the last elections until we saw a balikbayan dentist being chauffered in white pick-up with red plates.
I just hope for the sake of our people that the governor will change and act like a true father of our people. I hope too that he breaks his silence whenever the life of an Abreno is snuffed out by demented politicians. We are sick and tired of seeing the Abreno’s life being considered a mere statistic, to be added to the long list of unsolved murders.

Posted by PEDRO ABRENO | January 4, 2014, 7:54 pm
    • very well said manong Pedro Abreno, i agree so much with your view. gov takit is the proverbial monkey who keeps his eyes closed, his ears closed And his mouth closed when something wrong happens in the province. i am a witness to this inane act of the governor as a closed friend died and heard nothing coming out of the mouth of the gov. i dont see his point, takits point. he is in his last term as governor and had placed a niche for his nieces thru marriage in penarubia, why is he not acting or even for lip service’s sake say anything to condemn these killings in abra? he is very silent about all these. is there something cooking? or he is just plainly afraid of the perpetrators who are his supposed allies. i dont think he wants to run for congressman now especially that there is no more pork barrel. so what the hell is in his mind by keeping silent?

    • Good leaders are made not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders develop through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience Within that foundation are four cornerstones. These are the four words that best describe the type of leader you are today Governor Takit. You also represent the type of person and leader they aspire to become. Some cornerstone examples include: Integrity, Gratitude, Decency, Vision and Character. The words are the core of what you stand Today…

      • I strongly agree with the above rethoric, but how can “a good leader” be a leader in our province or most places in our country? First of, one must be elected in office to be a leader, without the 4Gs (Gold, Guns, Goons and Guts), who has all of these who has any “GOODNESS” in themselves. Maybe in my future dreams, for right now all I have are “nightmares”.
What the government should do is to eliminate guns and gold, then implement the law against vote buying, then maybe, maybe those with guts and wisdom for the sake of Abra will rise to redeem our paradise.

  34. I doff my hat off to the person who posted under the name of GAKKONG AND BROTHERS. Whoever you are, I believe you are eminently qualified to write in behalf of Gov. Takit. Your erudite handling of the case for Gov. Takit shows your political maturity and quality of the education you had. For the first time, a supporter of Gov. Takit has shown how one can post his comment in an unpretentious and non-adversarial manner. It is high time we understand that we will have differing opinions on any topic or issue. But that does not make us enemies. We are all brothers and sisters regardless of creed, station in life and political belief. Respect for each others’ beliefs is paramount in a democratic society. We all want a better life for our people. Perhaps we may not always agree on the way things should be done but that is not enough reason to engage in name-calling and the use of language that is fit only for those who live in the gutter. Neither is that enough reason to threaten or spill the blood of those who do not agree with you. Violence and murder have been committed with impunity because nobody is brought before the bar of justice. Only the certainty of arrest and conviction will stop this madness. We cannot be in a state of denial all the time. This very thread is proof beyond doubt that there is a long way to go before our people can live in peace. To whom will we turn to when the very people suspected of commiting murder are municipal officials? To the flip-flopping PNP? Certainly not to the hoodlums in robes. There is only one person, the highest official of the province, the father of all Abrenos, Gov. Takit, no less, who can make a difference if he so wants. So many lives have been wasted. Demented government officials in our province drink the tears of the widows and orphans. Our only hope is Gov. Takit.

      • leaders are not born but made. takit came to power because of the tragic death of his brother. the governorship of abra was given to him in a silver platter. if only chari would have not cowered to the call that she run for governor that time, it could have been her. but as fate would have it, it was takit. six years had past but it seems that takit has not made progress in making himself a good leader. by my statement i know that his lapdogs will gang up on me. but as nanong PA said, each to his own opinion. as gamong prince of abra described takit as a person of integrity, vision etc, i see a person who greatly benefitted with takit in power. a defender of takit indeed but as PA mentioned with a mind and schooling that needs to be respected. but for me i dont see those qualities in takit. why? talk about integrity, has he fulfilled his promise of putting a stop to the endless unresolved killings in abra which he promised in his campaign sorties. the answer is no. do yo call that integrity when you cannot even keep your promises. GNA is very right in saying that when it comes to lagayan, that is the time that takit takes action and sends magalong and lusad immediately to go to lagayan. wow, what is so special about lagayan? talk about gratitude, does he know the word? he should show gratitude to the people who voted for him and not the politicos who supposedly helped him. he should show these by giving good service to the people and not to the elite in his circle. talk about character, gamong prince of abra did not elaborate on what takit has in his character. he may have meant takits silence even in crisis. talk about decency, yes he may be decent enough to his friends and allies but not to all people in abra. vision? i think he has good vision. he has placed the nieces of ruby in power in penarubia, his cousin in lagangilang and others to ensure that he will still have power. he has vision in his political survival. have you heard gov takit talk against the contractor of the very ugly road to tayum from bangued, hell no! why? your guess is as good as mine. call it political survival. i myself do not need to be served by takit, i can survive without him, but what about the people who look up to him for the progress of abra. he should listen to the people in the grassroots and not to the people who always bite his ears. improve on social services, act on the unsolved cases and condemn all wrongdoing in government and you will have the support of all. isolating and insulating yourself by being blind deaf or mute would not do you anything to bring you closer to the people. remember that fault could also be done by omission and not comission alone. God save abra!

        • Mario Bang, Takit has ONLY made a gargantuan progress to his bank account in BofA. I can guarantee you that. Ask our fellow abrenians, what has takit done before he became ama ti abra? NADA! There’s a reason that i don’t call him gov and he’s not worthy for me to call him that. Just like you mentioned, it was given to him on a silver platter. He knows only one thing. And that my friend, is to steal from the coffers of abra. Su met la nasursuro na kenni manong na chito. Agtakaw! I’m done and have lost faith with all these useless politicians in Abra especially to takit cuz he has the power to do something good with his position and influence. But turned the other side and see nothing, hear nothing and know nothing. Laglag ti aki diablo. Kakaasi latta ti tao. Ooh well, better luck next time nga kunada no adda pay. But, it’s hopeless unless robinhood comes along and save Abra.

  36. Mr Pedro Abrenio is one of the few Abrenians to be:
‘ an intelligent man who will open our mind”. (For most Abrenians)
‘ a gentleman to open our hearts”. ( for corrupt leaders)

    • Sir sysop, you deleted the post of Eric Shawn for attacking me, calling as Judas. Maybe he had reasons for accusing me, although I have been Judas to myself n not to anybody else. But this SYOKE, true to his/her name have no right to call others LAGLAGKAY AMIN. Eric should deserved more respect than this SYOKE who seems only interested to himself than people who shared their thoughts for the welfare of others.
Sysop sir, with all due respect, where is the true meaning of moderation?

  38. I was admonished to stop criticizing after the election period. But violence and corruption have no special time of their own. People who commit violence and people who engage in corrupt practices make no distinction between the election period and the rest of the year. Eternal vigilance is the price we pay for good governance. If violence and corruption stop, I honestly believe the criticisms will stop.
The governor has all the power and resources of government at his disposal. However, he is surrounded by his fanatics who tell him everything is fine and dandy when in fact they are not. The only way an ordinary citizen like me can help the governor is to tell him what is wrong and what most of our people expect from him. He can make a difference if he so wishes. Contrary to what some of his fanatics say that it is time to stop listening to criticism, it is really time for the governor to stop listening to flattery because it does not contribute to sound governance. I came across a prayer I deem appropriate for the governor – “Dear Lord, save me from my friends, I can take care of my enemies”.
I submit that there is no 6-week course that will turn you into a great leader. But who needs a 6-week course to know the difference between right and wrong? Who needs a 6-week course to recognize that violence and murder are evil and it must be stopped? The governor’s family has been visited by violence and he certainly knows how it feels to lose a loved one in the most evil way.
Many may have been surprised, nay, disappointed even, when I wrote in my other post that Gov. Takit is the only hope of our people for peace. To them, I say, I am deeply sorry. I have all but given up in the fight against corruption. I believe that with the present crop of leaders in our province, honest governance will remain as it has been – a pipe dream. Our people will just have to wait until 2016 and elect a completely new set of leaders with integrity and character. But I sincerely believe that we cannot wait until 2016 to achieve genuine peace. I am sorry but time is not on my side. I want nothing better than genuine peace for all Abrenos before the inevitable happens.
Another murder is one murder too much.
If we are to remain true to ourselves, we must accept the fact that while Gov. Takit has his share of shortcomings like all of us, he, himself is not a violent man. I am willing to give Gov. Takit a chance to prove that he is capable of fulfilling his promise to end violence. I am willing to give him the opportunity to abide by his sacred oath to do justice to every man. He is in the last two and a half years of his last term. If he is indeed the brilliant leader his supporters tout him to be, then he should be on legacy mode by this time. What better legacy can he leave his people than genuine peace for all Abrenos, something that has eluded all past governors for many decades. It is important to give him this one chance for peace. If he still refuses to do his sworn duty, then, no one, not even his fanatics could fault our people if they damn him to their hearts’ content.
We must walk the extra mile for peace. We must learn to respect our differences. Let us remember that even those who disagree with us are our brothers and sisters. We may disagree and argue vigorously, but we must respect each other. That is the only way we can live in peace.

    • Uray tay pre-school nga ubing ammunan ti kaipapanan ti laglag. My point here is not its meaning but on issue of moderation against indecent words used in this forum. How could this word stupid (lag lag) be addressed to P. Abrenio, dr. Glenn, Hennessy, Bodowan, Genti, etc? Maybe EShawn and I deserved this word because we have gone thru violent experiences, but these honorable men, my God!
There are also adjectives abominable and sore to the eyes slapped to our congresswoman, former and governor which to my belief should not be read by the public. I personally believed this is a avenue where we are supposed to learn positive thoughts free from barbaric and palengkera words. I think there were rules mentioned before for bloggers guidline.
