LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — One of the suspects in a recent shooting incident in Dolores, Abra is now facing charges for the crimes of direct assault with frustrated murder and murder cases.
The shootout incident along Pedro Balmaceda St., Balneg, Poblacion killed a Bangued police and a former vice mayor of Dolores.
The victims were identified as Police Officer 3 Dindo Bobiles Guzman, 45, who was assigned in Bangued Police Station and his brother Dante Bobiles Guzman, 53, former vice mayor of Dolores town.
The suspects, who are known to be the bodyguards of incumbent Mayor of Dolores Abra – Robert Seares, were identified as Jun Cabanaoan, Christian Jay Cortez alias Immong, and Jeffrey Buentipo Borgonia, all residents of Poblacion, Dolores. Cabanaoan was killed during the encounter while Cortez was later surrendered by Seares to the policemen in Abra and Borgonia is still at large.
The injured during the incident were identified as Christopher Bunag Tordil, 40, businessman; and Cesar Purisima Zapata, 34, Abra Electric Cooperative employee, who were with the Guzman brothers. Zapata was later discharge from the hospital.
Police investigation revealed the victims attended a certain wake when they had a heated argument with Cortez while they are playing dice.
Cortez left but Dindo and Dante Guzman followed him, which resulted in gunfire between them and the group of Cabanaoan, Cortez and other male persons.
The victims and the suspects sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were immediately brought to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment except Cabanaoan who died on the spot. However, brothers Dindo and Dante Guzman were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. A certain Christopher Tordil is still confined at the hospital.
The crime scene investigators recovered 18 spent cartridges of caliber 9mm and 13 for caliber 45; one slug fragment of unknown caliber; a deformed slug; two rounds of ammunition for caliber .45 and 9mm; two copper jacket fragments; and a black holster.
Manhunt operation is still ongoing against Borgonia and other suspects while charges were filed against the suspects.

I apreciated the ideas of Lavander, Maverick, Bodong, RiverCross, Dr Leo n Dr. N. Banez etc. I really learned great things from them with equal value as from PA.

You are dealing with others here who are still blind or just pretending to be blind in accepting the wisdom imparted to us by you and Pedro Abrenio. It’s only natural that others are still suffering with this kind of indifference but your persistence to show us the light will soon soften their stubborn hearts. Everybody and no one is exempted that our circumstances change that challenges our own understanding and physical strength. In the hour of our needs, we will realize that all your words of wisdom with PA were for our own protection and guidance. I can’t prove it but I have that gut feeling that you have already changed a lot of us. I for one, will no longer feel that fear or worry in every minute of my life. Confronting any kind of problem that comes to mind or face to face to any real physical danger, regardless of their kind or nature, is just nothing now and I can’t explain why?
I owe you one guys, and all I can say is thanks a lot….May the good Lord continues to shower his blessings upon you and PA as well as to your loved ones.
How I wish that PA will come back for there are still a lot of things that he could share with us, especially with this corruption where our lawmakers are presently salivating their worldwide limelight.

For all you know, its only now under the stewardship of mayor abaya that we felt and saw changes and development in our town. Now, you see a decent public market, now we have a multipurpose gymnasium, we now travel on farm to market roads, we have irrigations. Clearly, the development funds served their purpose.
May I also challenge you to trace the roots of our mayor to enlighten your mind. Don’t just tell baseless reports.
Come to Lagangilang, seefor yourself and witness the developments.

In addition, I have no problem with the development of Lagangilang with Mayor Abaya at the helm with the exception of farm to market roads and irrigation. These developments were already there before mayor Abaya came to Lagangilang. I also don’t have any problem with regards to his roots, my previous statement was about his residency. According to my research, Dr. P. Abaya (his dad) and Mrs. E. Abaya came and lived in a cottage inside the campus of Lagangilang National Agricultural High School (now ASIST) where they served as Principal and Teacher respectively. Upon their (parents) retirement they went back to their hometown of Bangued where they resided. Mayor Abaya (from Bangued serving as Sanguniang Panlalawigan) choosed to reside in Lagangilang before he ran for Mayor with the endorsement of his cousin, the Gob. “This is not a baseless report.”
