TAYUM, Abra – The long arm of the law has finally caught up with a 55-year-old father and his two sons for more than 100 counts of Statutory rape.
Sr. Supt. Benjamin Lusad, Abra police director, said that the vigilance of the members of the Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO) has scored a major breakthrough on the arrest of the suspects, Saturnino Bacud Benabese, 55, and his two sons, Jerick Paul, 23, and his younger brother, Ronald James, 18, all residents of Poblacion, Tayum, Abra.
The arrest came by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Corpuz Alzate of the Regional Trial Court Branch 2.
According to Superintendent Mario Mayames, Deputy Provincial Director for Operations, the suspects
continuously and simultaneously abused the minor victim since 2011 until February 2013 in Brgy Garreta, Pidigan Abra. (Mar T. Supnad)

I have no excuse or blaming anyone or anything else like my poor coconut for my English teachers at Abra Valley College were so great but you could imagine how tough it was to study at that school during the 60’s – 70’s. I don’t know the situation now (I’m now here at abroad) but it was very hard then to focus your attention in the class because youth/young students were so uncontrollable or so barbaric, if I may say?. No respect at all to the school authorities especially if they were the children of rich and powerful families at that time. They bully everybody especially us Tingguians that forced me to defend myself at one time against a bullish arrogant. Lucky we both survived for one of our classmates was man enough to stop us. I owe him one for the rest of my life and hope to see him yet someday, somehow. For the arrogant bullish, don’t worry for I am now more than a christian (no longer an idolater) and I have already forgiven you in my mind and my heart. After all, we were just innocent kids and victims of unwanted “peace and order” condition driven by dirty politics, perhaps.
Although I haven’t seen or bought yet this book, I already sensed the sincerity of your intention for you to be proud of us someday. What if you broaden your noble intention by soliciting the goodness of heart of our politicians and distribute these books to the different schools in the entire province from elementary to high school? And/or, if you could post here its entirety with the approval of course of our magnanimous Site Administrator.
Whatever you decide, please accept my profound gratitude for this great contribution of yours.

I won’t feel bad but appreciate it for it gives me an opportunity to improve it. Everybody knows that we were not all lucky enough to be a journalist, lawyer, or English teacher, etc. who majored in English that they could express themselves freely and confidently. And to those who are already in abroad, don’t be intimidated with this universal language for the Canadian or American borne are also obliged to learn proper English from kindergarten to college. If they can’t understand you or the opposite, just assume that they too have poor grades in English during the course of their studies. To make it subtle, although they were borne American/Canadian it doesn’t mean that they know technical English automatically. Same thing with Ilokano. Do you know how to write Ilokano story without learning journalism or proper grammar on Ilokano first?

This book deals with parts of speech and punctuation rules ( of course, again. It is a grammar book . . he he he) with humorous examples of correct usage. I don’t know if you can buy it online. If not, and if you are in Canada or the U.S., try Walmart or bookstores in your area.
