SysOp’s Blog: Enough of the speeches

Losers can only dream

Losers can only drea

Tomorrow (July 1st), the newly elected officials will formally take their seat of office. The winning candidates are back in Abra, after sorties abroad to celebrate their victory, just in time for taking their oath of office. This should also formally end the Elections 2013 (note: Some candidates has filed election protests and the manual recount is now going on. According to the law, all protest should be decided within 6 months of the protest)

Now it’s time for our elected officials to roll their sleeves and get to work. Enough of the thank you speeches and congratulatory words. It’s time for them to fullfil their promises (let’s hope they won’t suffer Amnesia) to our Province. And most important, It’s time to extend reconcilatory hands to their opponents. After all, it’s just politics, nothing personal.

JFK famously said “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country”. But I say Abrenians has already done their part by putting you into power. Now we ask, what can you do with that power?

      • No!!!!! The Big Partisan, doesn’t deserve! I also regret that i supported somebody big who served for 3 years who only made mayors richer and the common tao poorer. The honorable governor yes! He really deserves. He was and he is so different. I don’t stop giving him honor and respect, extending good news to my friends about his outstanding accomplishments and to my FB friends in Europe, Asia, North America, Australia, Japan etc. Actually, I’m greatly honored to be one of his FB friends. I hope he will listen to my suggestion/ recommendations when the opportune comes when we meet.(he has been inviting me to see him)
People who are doing wonderful things deserves our. appreciations, its their inspiration to do more good things for us. Even our Loving Father above, with all His might, loves to hear endless praises for His Glory!

        • Gov. Takit won because to my mind, he was the lesser evil. Having said that, it is time to be extra vigilant because with the election of Chari as vice-governor, check and balance has become a thing of the past. I have always believed that democracy and good governance can only flourish with a vibrant and constructive opposition. It is never enough to have honest leaders, it is imperative to have a system that will keep our leaders honest. History is replete with cases of honest people entering the world of politics only to be swallowed by a system that is corrupt to the core. The campaign season and the elections are long over. The time for talk is likewise over. I have learned early in life not to pay attention to what people, especially politicians say. But I always pay close attention to what they do. Believe me, between what they say and what they do is a chasm.
I hope that Gov. Takit kicks his habit of providing government vehicles, complete with gas slips to balikbayans. Try as I might, I cannot see the wisdom in doing it. Balikbayans can very well provide for their own ride. This is plain and simple, malversation of public funds. There are so many people living below the poverty level in our province who richly deserve government help. It is time to lend them a hand. Enough of graft and corruption. Today, we have a more enlightened citizenry. Leaders must change their evil ways because the electorate have had enough. They will not be so forgiving in future elections.

Your tangible accomplishments today of uplifting the conditions of the under privileged, all your general projects will demonstrate the meanings of your words and actions to the skeptics/critics. 5. If they couldn’t really quit corrupting people’s money, fine, as long as they could maintain/improve peace and order situation in the midst of our unending poverty. But how? that’s it my province mates, our poverty continue to exist due to their unending corruption. Mano ti utang ti Pinas nga taktakawen da, $60 Billion?
By the way, Congrats in advance for turning once again our anemic provincial economy and scary peace and order condition 60 degrees.

  8. yung term na lesser evil ay mali. lesser or more evil equals evil. ganyan na ba talaga sa Abra? walang matino kasi pati evil sinusupurtahan? meron bang no evil? nakas-kas-daang met.

    Posted by lesserevil | July 1, 2013, 7:27 pm
    • With all due respect, evil is endemic not only in Abra but in almost all provinces in the country and that includes Metro Manila. You don’t even have to look far, Ilocos Sur has been suffering for the longest time under the Singsons while Ilocos Norte has had the same fate under the Marcoses. Wealth amassed by these two families can pay off our foreign debt. It is just the sad fate of Abrenos that in the past elections there was no clear choice. I advocated for a pass during the last elections because I believed the Abrenos deserve honest, competent and resolute leaders. As a matter of fact, all members of my family did not vote in the local elections. We confined our votes to the senatorial and party list races. It is both unfortunate and sad that a great number of our fellow Abrenos succumbed to the temptation in the form of either 3,000php or 500 to 1,000php. A rock and a hard place really did not offer much of a choice but you cannot fault our people for choosing the lesser evil. In most parts of our country, people did not have much choice either. Gone are the days of Ramon Magsaysay, Lorenzo Tanada, Jose W. Diokno, Ninoy and Cory Aquino and Jesse Robredo. Gone too are the days of our very own Don Quintin Paredes. Yes, there are a good number of honest and competent people in Abra but the Abrenos are not yet ready for change. Until they wake up from their stupor, it will just be more of the same. There will be no clear choice and they will remain in the darkness.

Your position is a rare opportunity to serve and not to be served as you claimed. Don’t be hyphocrit doing the opposite. If you do you are not only deceiving the people but trying to deceive God who is Omnipresent, who knows everything . Remember He said” what you have done to others, you have done to Me” we are all sinners, Romans 3:10 and 3:23. But God is Love and forgiving. He said” repent, confess your sins, obey me commandments and live” . That’s the easy 3 steps to heaven! Amen!

  14. Let me justify my point when I said ” addansa ket kinaapaysuna” i mean I’m just curious or doubtfull of the true personality of our governor because of numerous and endless attack against him about money. I’m still convinced that he is different from the others. He is peace loving and achiever. Concerning money matters, diak ammo no adda kinaagpaysuna, ngem ti kaadu ti agasug maipanggep ti kuarta contra ken kuanna ti mangled kaniak ti panagduadua. No adda kinaapaysuna dagitoy gov., ta kuarta ngarud ti ramot t amin a kinadakes, agpanunot ka koman sakbay nga maladaw ti amin. Certainly with money you can buy many things but money, even billions won’t bring you to heaven. Your only ticket to go there is ” to love others as you love yourself” serve your constituent honestly without reservation. The Lord said ” what you have done to others, you have done to Me”. man easily deceives his fellow men but he can never deceive God Who is omnipresent.

Ti akemmo kas tinalek ti umili ket rangtaymi koma nga mangnanam met ti uray 10 percent ti nam-ay nga sagsagrapenyo nga agtuturay. Review my previous comments in this forum how I depended you on countless attack because I really believed you are so different from others. Prove that you are really different, worthy of the overwhelming trust in 3 elections. Please listen to the wisdom of Pedro Abrenio, Geronimo, Genti and etc. I believe these enlighten people possessed wonderful hearts and their thoughts are source of greater value of treasure than millions or billions of money. Like one or all of them, I receive true peace in my life thru constant reading Godspired book, the Bible and other spiritual materials regardless of sects plus a requested guidance of pastors who are ready to give assistance. It is highly recommend for you to try to deviate a part of your leisure time to seek God’s words and His Plan for us, by requesting pastors/priest to assist and guide you find the Truth. Soon you will finally find the best security in your life not from bodyguards but depend everything on Almighty God’s power. Because you’ll soon give your full trust on Him. Because as it is written ” if God is with me, who can be against me” .
