BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Gunmen shot to death a barangay chairman in a remote Lagayan town in Abra early Thursday morning.
Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Benjamin Magalong said Trium Pajo Donato, 42, who was incumbent chairman of barangay Pulot, Lagayan town, was heading home at around 5:30 a.m. after visiting his ricefield when gunmen attacked and killed the victim.
The village chairman suffered multiple bullet wounds from still undisclosed gun caliber, killing him instantly.
Magalong, who earlier said the peace and order situation in Abra has been improving, said investigators are leaving no “stones unturned” to identify the killers of the barangay chairman.
During the elections, no single shooting incident occurred in the whole province of Abra. – Artemio A. Dumlao

For me only speculation,this is about politics, that person I believed he is one of the people who help every person in their community what ever the case maybe they supposed to spare his life for his Family,He did nothing wrong and I believed he didn’t even kill somebody,it’s only because of the stupid politics, I hope they will find justice,maybe?

1.Gov. Takit Bersamin is peace loving man and his name was never polluted with death incidents in Abra. He is well love because he is an achiever especially for the uplifment of the poor.
2. Gen Magalong is equally well respected and outstanding gen. Known for his outstanding performances. Thru his leadership, 7 months before election, brutal death related to election was not heard intire Abra, the first time in decades. The PNP, filed vote buying cases against the 2 mayor candidates, now elected. These proved, he is nonpartisan compared to his precedence. It ‘s up to the COMELECT how these cases will progress.
Abra is generally peaceful. Except for these few money and power hungry politicians, we are proud to be Abrenians. Come and visit Abra and experience the hospitality of Our people and see the endless beauty of our mountains, rivers, valleys, culture and our ladies, both tinguians and Ilocanos. Great Gandhi said” a community is an ocean. If there are few dirty drops, the ocean is still clean”.
