Tayum, Abra. The Commission on Election (COMELEC) throw out a petition to disqualify Joey Brillantes from running for Mayor in the town of Tayum.
According to a post in his FaceBook account, Brillantes announced that the COMELEC thoroughly reviewed the petition from Mayor Eduarte and found no basis.
From Joey Brillantes
Sometime ago, my opponent Glen Eduarte, the incumbent Mayor of Tayum, filed a protest at the Commission on Election (COMELEC) against my Certificate of Candidacy (COC) in order to disqualify me. The case against me was thoroughly reviewed by the honorable members of COMELEC. The latter found the case against me was without basis in fact and was dismissed. It was a unanimous decision in my favor. Chairman Sixto Brillantes recused himself and did not participate in the voting.
I always knew from the beginning that Glen Eduarte’s allegation is a distortion. My ancestors and the father before them, and the father before him, and my father are from TAYUM. My blood and soul belong to Tayum.
