Latest news: Chairman of the Board of Directors of ABRECO, Mr. David Guzman, today shared to Abra Convenor’s group Carmelita Bersalona the following information (via ABRENIAN FaceBook Group):
- P4.9 Million was paid to APRI on Dec. 10, 2012 – represents the balance for November.
ABRECO has a monthy gross revenue of P25 Million to P26 Million, of which the following expenses:
- P15.3 Million – ABRECO to promise to pay APRI on December Dec. 24, 2012
- P5-6 Million is paid to the National Grid Corp. of the Phils. (depending on the usage and rate of transmission).
- P5 Million – Salaries & Wages
The billing period of ABRECO is from Nov. 11-Dec. 11, 2012. ABRECO is asking consumers to pay on or before Dec. 20, 2012. For those unable to pay, they start disconnecting service on Dec. 22 if unable to pay
Some proposed actions:
1. Downgrade salaries of Abreco employees
2. Retrenchment Program because there is over manpower based on consumer to employer ratio
As for the request for a Special General Assembly on December 16, 2012, ABRECO Board of Directors has rejected the request since petitioners failed to come up with 10% of the total members signatures.
The petition letters has been inititated by two groups, CCAGG led by Pura Sumangil and Abra Peace Conveners Group led by Carmelita Bersalona

Error of judgment, haphazardly-drafted petition, and d “bahala na” attitude of some had derailed what could have been a “slam-bang affair” on Dec. 16! And we’re back to zero once again! When do we learn, that if there is no unity among members-consumers, we cannot really gain strength. That if only we can make a common stand, we can see change and make a difference. All is not lost, however. Let us unite once again, and make this exercise not end up in futility and us in deep regrets. If this is Round 1, we may have lost d fight, but not the battle! Re-file d Petition, gather d necessary number of signatories, and if you need One more, count on me, my friends!

Perhaps this time, they should approach the head of each baranggay and ask them to help gather the needed signatures. A baranggay captain should be able to appoint one (or two) from of his councilmen (or even SK) to go from house to house and explain what it is that they are trying to achieve, this may actually encourage people to sign the petition voluntarily. Just my 2 cents.

Just resign together with your subordinates as a graceful exit and allow our consumer lawyers to devise plans geared towards normalization of this unending festering problem for the sole satisfaction of the Abrenian constituents.
I hate to say but all of you had already lost integrity and credibility of the highest degree equal but not worse than other corrupt politicians in the province. Give kind conscientious new breed or faces a chance to demonstrate their true cares or concerns and if they follow your footsteps or worse, God forbids, their own bloodline might suffer the most dreaded punishment on earth and in life beyond. I am not cursing but just scared that laws on karma might spared no one.

In the last few months of the Abreco crisis, Cong. Joy and Gov. Takit had been working tirelessly meeting with Aboitiz and other government agencies trying to avert the loss of power in Abra. Up to the last minute, they were busy trying to work out an arrangement but, unfortunately, time ran out.
Cong. Joy and Gov. Takit still worked as diligently to solve this problem, hence, the
restoration of power today.
ABRECO IS A COOPERATIVE and does not fall within the purview or power of the Governor or Executive of the province. Nor does COA (Commission on Audit) have any power to demand an audit.
On the other hand, WE, the consumers and members of the cooperative, have the power to ask for an explanation or accounting of these happenings. A lot of member consumers are now asking the Board of Directors to call for a Special General Assembly to determine our plan of action. Please join us and be a part of the solution.
Let me also implore you, dear Abranians, to repudiate and reject the lies being bandied about. Reject these people seizing crisis for their own personal gain and using their fingers quick to point who is to blame but do NOT offer any solutions to help the situation.

X | December 14, 2012, 4:31 pmjust a thought…what if d organizers of this signature campaign will set a meeting wt concerned member-consumers and volunteers, and all parties supportive of this noble cause, coordinate with d media, esp. radio communication thru panawagan/advertisements, d local parishes that we may be allowed to post copies of d petition for d parishioners’ signatures, d local government units, barangays and cause-oriented groups for a house-to-house signature campaign…and all other stakeholders. and what if we can do just that! just imagine its rippling effects, that a united ABRENIAN, tired and long-suffering from d clout of corruption and tyranny, can be PUSHED NO MORE! This could be a referendum in the elections of may 2013, of how determined and strong we are as a people, that if we can succeed now in this fight, there is no more reason that we can’t succeed next year, in another fight against our corrupt and tyrannical leaders. We can do it…there’s no reason why not.

Once they made up their mind that “doing the right thing” is the best defense against fear of any kind, knowing that there’s always a divine protection for all their endeavors, most if not all of them will no longer bow down against any form of harassment, intimidation, or scare tactics employed by anyone especially our crook politicians.
