——————————————
Reports are going around that the whole province of Abra is without any electricity. According to radio reports, Abotiz Power finally cut-off Abra’s power supply due to ABRECO’s failure to pay it’s huge financial obligations. Back in September, ABRECO owes Php 53 Million broken down into: Php 32 Million Security Deposit and 21 Million of unpaid bills.
Abotiz Power had issued 3 disconnection notice to ABRECO for the past few months. Each time, the company suspend disconnections hoping the cooperative will keep it’s promise to pay. And each time no less than the Governor and Congresswoman intervened. The last suspension was in November 12, 2012.
Abrenians has been clamoring for a change in the ABRECO leadership for some time but the Local Government has not done anything so far.

Abra: back to the dark ages. Those responsible sip expensive coffee in the comforts of their ‘public-funded’ ‘no power interruption’ abodes while the majority who religiously pay their monthly bills miserably gropes in the dark. Corruption, politics, greed, impunity, hypocrisy, fear, ignorance – not strange bedfellows.

REPLY TO DRUNKEN MASTER POSTING OF DEC. 9, 2012:..
SIR, I’m not familiar with ABRECO COMPANY.
My honest opinion is this (you asked for it)… Being a Company responsible to the
peoples’s need of electicity, and the people have been up to date in the payment of
their electric bills, the company being headed by a CEO, this CEO must be made
responsible for not providing electricity to the people whether he or she is an appointee
to the post by the incumbent or past administration.
If ‘incompetency’ is proven in the performance of his/her job, the CEO must be removed
from the office. Of course he/she must be allowed (in civilize society) to be heard in a
public meeting to depend his case.
The Public Meeting is presided by the Governor and Committee of respectable members of
the community.
Dr. Leo
ok lng ke bos may generator naman cla kaya cntinue pa rn sarap buhay
This is what happened when a cooperative played politics.
any office in Abra where there’s a chance to steal money, Politicians will definitely dip their fingers into it’s finances. Why do you think that this GM position is one of the most desired position in Abra? Now we know. You can be P50 million richer.

It could not be overstated, but this has political significance. To the incumbents, do the right thing and you’ll sway voters in your favor. Do nothing, and you will suffer the consequences. Kasta laeng met nga talaga! No apay ngamin aya nga agkikinnalob kayo iti kina-korakut nga ar-aramid yo! Sika met, agriing kan Abrenio!!!

pls dr leo give us insight for d governor to be awaken
D governor & d congresswoman can only do so much to cover up this mess created by the the Abreco GM. If the principle of command responsibility is to be applied in full measure, the culpability goes up to them. They supported the wrong person (for familial & personal reasons, of course!) and cuddled him, tolerated him in his wrongdoings when he did nothing but ransacked d coop’s coffers, to the damage of members/consumers! Come election time, this will haunt them, mark my words, unless sooner addressed! We are tired of your useless politics. If we, poor consumers, continue to suffer under your rule, let this suffering be shared. Let d buck stop, and take d blame!
Gayyem karim boaya. Bareng .no saan nga maallilaw ken.masilaw daguiti botantes nga ilako botos da no election. Parigaten datayo na pobre ken kakaasi, umay datayon to butbutngen ken bayadan ti botos tayo. No mangabak da, manso manen korakot para sumaruno election. Nagwarasen pampamilya da na agturay ditoy abra . It’s teritorial now.
husto ta konam musilat……isu nga haanda nakabayad ta imbulsada para panggatang iti botos. haan a bale haantay makaturog ti pudot ken sippit ti lamok ta isuda naimas tuturuganda ta naka-aircon da latta……kona diay gayyem ko taga penarrubia kaaruba da ket idiayla kano balbalayda nga agiikit (mayora penarrubia ken kapitana kabsat mayora) ti adda silaw na ta adda generator da. ultimo ngata urok da itan.
the members of the coop are the consumers themselve. there’s more than 44,000 consumers in Abra. they should demand an emergency meeting with the board of directors and kick the GM’s butt out of office and file graft and corruption and abuse of authority, Freeze his assets and haul him into Jail.
the damage has been done. this is a political disaster for the governor. Never in the history of Abra that this ever happen. Right under the watch of Governor Bersamin. As like any other issues The Governor will wash his hands and deny his culpability. But then again the GM is his appointee and his kaanakan.
take that Abrenians. what are you going to do?
vote them out
Definitely !
Isukat tay garud ti mesa a bolok ta bolok wan la nalaing…arya abra latta koman.
Fair or no fair, or no matter how we call it, I suspect that to some, they may see this an opportunity to further their political aspirations. To some, they will say that not only d Abreco GM but also d sitting Governor and the Congresswoman are inept in d performance of their functions! To some, they will debate why these people should not be re-elected to office. To some, they will say/promise that they will stop d Abrenian people’s suffering, and take d people out of this “darkness”…And, I’m very much interested to know who these some people are.
We are calling our member consumers (General Assembly), as aptly pointed out by cooppower let us demand for an emergency meeting, the Board of Directors and Abreco Officers are directly accountable to the membership. Let us remind them time and again that we are their real employers (Cooperative Code of the Philippines). The GA is the highest policy making body of the the cooperative let us go out and demand this right.
RA 9520 is explicit and clear….
(2) Whenever necessary, a special meeting of the general assembly may be called at any time by a majority vote of the board of directors or as provided for in the bylaws: Provided, That a notice in writing shall be sent one (1) week prior to the meeting to all members who are entitled to vote. However, a special meeting shall be called by the board of directors after compliance with the required notice within from at least ten per centum (10%) of the total members who re entitled to vote to transact specific business covered by the call.
“If the board fails to call a regular or a special meeting within the given period, the Authority, upon petition of ten per centum (10%) of all the members of the cooperative who are entitled to vote, and for good cause shown, shall issue an order to the petitioners directing them to call a meeting of the general assembly by giving proper notice as required in this Code or in the bylaws;

Story from Philstar.com: http://www.philstar.com/nation/2012/12/10/884459/abra-electricity-cut
Abra electricity cut off
By Artemio Dumlao (philstar.com)
BANGUED, Abra – Abra is in total darkness as power supplier Aboitiz Power Corp. has cut off its supply lines to the Abra Electric Cooperative (Abreco) apparently because of unpaid arrears amounting to P35 million.
Abra’s electricity would have been cut off since October had it not been for the intervention of government officials.
Abra governor Eustaquio Bersamin and Rep. Jocelyn Bernos had reportedly asked the private firm to delay cutting off power in the province.
On December 26, 2011, Aboitiz signed an agreement with Abreco to provide electricity to more than 43,000 member-consumers of the cooperative.
Abreco distributes electricity to 26 municipalities in Abra.
The cash-strapped cooperative has been unable to improve its finances.
Cooperative manager Loreto Seares Jr. has earlier vowed that the cooperative would be able to fulfill their side of the agreement with the Aboitiz firm. Seares said the cooperative is also planning to build a mini-hydro project in Daguioman town, also in the province to tap renewable energy potentials in the province.
With the province without electricity, both government and Abreco officials are looking for alternatives to bring back electricity to the area.
Hydro ? Or another way to find a gold mine ? Cong Bernos and Gov Bersamin intervened to delay the cut off, why did they not summon or gave his marching order straight away but remained in control to fill up more his or their wallets. Can’t help speculating.
The motto of cong , gov, and GM,
“WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER “
apay kasla muskeeters, one for all, all for one! if this is really
d case, then clearly a syndicated corruption scheme has taken over d reins of d abreco. we have d right to demand accountability. let d ax fall, and d long arms of the law reach those with liability. without fear or favor dapat, but with full force of d law. tapno saan dan to ul-ulitenen dagiti sumarsaruno. sapay koma ta kasta!

You may be wondering why the 54Million, the stated debt is such a big deal. Well! You can just say that the gov. funds can pay it easily, but the problem is>>> It is NOT the TOTAL! They have a debt too at the NAPOCOR amounting 353Million! And if you will only realize, that from 2009 to 2011 the Operating expenses of Abreco incresed by almost a hundread percent! What is WRONG??! Basing from the data I analyzed, they could have made a profit of about 2-7percent! If you are interested on my analysis you can message on my FB email. http://www.facebook.com/abrabangued.thinkers

Beth I like your question and hopefully it will reach the President’s attention. If they can stop electric supply, why they can’t stop government funds/supply since they had been infertile or adamant in prosecuting these corrupt officials? Why government money still flowing like honey directly to their pockets in the guise of imaginary public services or sub-standard infrastructure projects? You mean this Aboitiz private entity is far more efficient than our national officials with the exception of the President? What a shame? The world is still watching us, you know?
You know what puzzles me more? Why are they are so brave in stealing even their children’s money, it’s not government money? Why…?
Adda koma matalek nga Tao/grupo nga mangibagi ti Abra nga mapan ken president Pnoy ta daytay first half ti buis RA 7171 ( 150 million ti kababaan ti simmangpet ti Abra/yr apo) ta maiyadvance koman pangsolbar ti problems ta kaasi ti Abra. No agbayag ti sipnget, sigurado umado ti ubbing, nangingisit danto pay. Iseman tayo ti problema, nalaklakka ti agpanonut ken iwas SAKIT. Umisem ka, bakit katapusan na ba ang mundo?
Make an open letter to Pnoy, have it published in the major dailies.
all abreco members need to stop paying now unless the problem is resolved!!!! General protest.
The proof is their conscience that bothers them every minute. Do you think their laughter are genuine and really enjoying the fruits of their wickedness? I don’t think so? I bet that they couldn’t even look straight to their children’s eye and say “Don’t worry kids, I am not feeding you with my prostituted wealth”.
I am not singling-out any politician, this refers to any thief politician or not politician with the exception of those who are just kissing ass in order to gain favor in the guise of “pautanganak man” for they are still far decent than their innocent but wicked prey.
The above comments is a humble reply to his/her honor: MEOFF
Hey Mountaineer, far from your assumption that I am one of those brown noses.I am proud that I could provide for my family through honest means.I am just singling out the below the belt personal attacks with no proof. Credibility suffers when one conducts him/herself as such.
I agree categorically that all filipino politicians are corrupt with RARE exceptions. You are not going to get an argument from me on that, I am just hoping that the level of discourse in this website is higher.Stick to the topic and avoid dragging private citizens name in the discourse.
NOW ITS TIME TO MAN UP AND TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY ON WHAT HAPPEN TO ABRECO. IF YOU CANT PERFORM YOUR DUTY TO MANAGE A COOP, THEN ITS TIME FOR YOU TO LEAVE.LET SOMEBODY WHO IS CAPABLE ENOUGH TO RUN ABRECO.ITS S SHAME FOR YOU TO BE A GENERAL MANAGER OF ABRECO WHERE YOU LET THE PROVINCE OF GO DARK UNDER YOUR TERM.WHAT A SHAME !!!
CALLING THE ATTENTION OF GOV. TAKIT AND CONG. JOY. MAYBE ITS YOUR TIME TOO TO OVERSEE WHATS GOING ON IN ABRECO NOT UNLESS BOTH OF YOU ARE PART OF THIS SCAM. YOU KNOW MAY 2013 ELECTION IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER. BAKA MABATTOOG KAYO !!!
they should kick him out of his position. But he should not be allowed to leave. His assests should be frozen and his ass thrown to jail.

best response is of being quiet, for me i will remain “no comment” because even if i will say “Change and progress for abra” a hundred and even a million times, if my fellow still votes for senseless leaders, nothing will goes, i will be soon at ilocos norte and if i can, i will stay there permanently and just come and visit abra if i have time.. bye :p
this website was going on to be drained with cyber riots and wars, because of the comments of the people, there’s nothing wrong with the people whoa re commenting in every issues that were issued but there are some people who are commenting such baseless things which can hurt someone and someone will “resbak” for it and all will go witha cyber war.. isn’t it? yes, reality hurts but we should look with our words. look with the next thing that might would happen on what we have did earlier..

And yes I do care for our province very much so as a matter of fact more than you would ever know. We can make a difference in doing positive things for the province and not just sitting and complaining.
