Exclusive: How I wish…

By Winnie Abella Pranada
abrenian.com Exclusive

Bangued, Abra. The year 2012 is winding to an end. It’s almost as always  we start asking ourselves, what we want for this holidays – What do we wish for. A wish can be as simple as “I want to be happy” (ditch your BF who treats you like trash) or as loafty as “I want to end World Hunger” (ban super-size portions).  There’s nothing wrong with wishing. Wishes express our hopes, desires and dreams and who knows it may come true.

We asked random Abrenians one question: “If there’s one thing you wish this Christmas, what would it be?”

Here’s what they say:

REX BONA, 18, single, Working Student, Waiter
I wish to be with my sister this Christmas. I really miss her so much. I haven’t seen her for almost 12 years because she is in Negros Oriental.  We don’t have any communication; we don’t even know if she is alright. Seeing her would be my best Christmas ever.

DAPHNE CLAIRE BOBILA, 20, Single, SK Chairman, Graduating Student
World peace, because for me this is very essential for all of us. We are already traumatized by wars and dangers.  Maybe it’s time to unite again and live in this world with peaceful mind, heart and thoughts.

MIKKE VALDEZ BOBITA, 20, Single, Saleslady
I wish to have our own house. I would like to experience sleeping at night peacefully without thinking that any day we are going move to again.

GLENNIS BELLO, 29, Single Mom, Clerk
Good health is all I wish for. I can be happy as long as my family is in good health especially my one and only baby.

RODEL BUSTARGA, 25, Single, Student.
I wish for good health. I need to be healthy to be able to reach my goals and dreams.

JELLY NOCUS ISAO, 17, Single, Student
Since I was a child I’ve been wishing to have a happy and prosperous Christmas without alcohol.  Every Christmas my father would get drunk and goes to bed. Alcohol always ruins our Christmas and I feel so incomplete. I really wish it will be happy this year specially for my father.

JENNY FABRIGA, 18, Domestic Partner, Housekeeper
I wish I could be with my baby Angelo on Christmas.  He died when he was only 2 months old. I wish he is still alive.  I am still happy because I know in my heart that Angelo is now with heavenly father.  I am sure God has a better plan for me and my family.

GERALD C. VALERA, 36, married, Barangay Council Member
Too many to mention but my very wish for this coming Christmas is hear the word “positive” from my wife. I really want to have a baby that will call me daddy.

DOM JONES ACNAM, 19, Single, Student
I wish that our Christmas this year would be just like our Christmas before, where all family members are present with peaceful heart and mind. This time though, I want to celebrate my Christmas with my girlfriend together with my family. I want her to meet my whole family members to prove to her how much I love her.

GAYLORD ADAME, 33, Single, looking for a job
My wish is to pass my mechanical engineering board examination and to help my family financially.

To our respondents, we thank you for your answers. We certainly hope all your wishes will come through. What about you Abrenians, what do you wish? (WAP/EGB).

  3. mikke valdez bobila deserves to be granted with her wish,to end her agony and humitheliation of being evicted, the mental torture that comes, not knowing when the sword of damocles will fall, the anguish of being seperated from her friends and the consequence of moving to a new environment which she must learn to blend and cope up to any hostility which might emerge from their intrusion

  12. Most of us were using his own strength or understanding to be able to succeed with his plans/wishes but most of the time ending up disappointed because the one in Control has a better plan especially for the righteous ones. Maybe and maybe, by making a difference will mightily push our luck, so, why don’t we start joining to any mission with a good purpose like the “Eye in the Sky”? God knows what’s in your heart or what you are thinking and HE judges and rewards according to your deeds, ways, or conducts.
Merry 2012 X’mas and I fervently wish and pray that all your wishes will come true this time. All of you will deserve it because of the goodness of your heart which evidently felt through the sincerity of your wordings or concerns for them, although and the solid truth that they are not even your loved ones.

  17. I vote for Jelly, her wish is so simple yet very touching. It is also a wish that delivers a strong message that alcohol abuse by one member can lead to a dysfunctional family.
