Abra killer thrown in jail

By Artemio Dumlao (philstar.com)

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Another killer in Abra, wanted for at least three murders, two frustrated murders and one foiled killing was thrown in jail after he was finally cornered by policemen in remote Tineg town in Abra.

Twenty-six-year-old Bastian Mablay Benwagen from Naglibacan, Tineg was arrested 6 a.m. Wednesday at Sitio Vera, Barangay Alaoa with the help of Tineg Mayor Edwin Crisologo, said Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Benjamin Magalong.

Benwagan’s arrest was ordered by Abra Regional Trial Court Branch 2 Judge Corpuz Alzate, Magalong said. Police said no bail recommended for him.

Since last week, at least a dozen wanted criminals have fallen to pursuing policemen who were ordered by Magalong to intensify the manhunt for wanted criminals in the region.

  7. No pis-itim dagiti alimatek ngem saan mo met kabaelan nga mapis-it da tatang ken nanang da, aganak danto manen ti nakarkaro pay ngem uleg ken buaya. Or, if a bad shepherd dies, all his sheep scatters and afraid to come back as long as future General Magalong with his brave and honest men are in our watch.

  8. Be careful also for those who are just being framed up by politicians Gen. Magalong, some of the Judges and attorneys of Abra are being paid to do such things just to please their mucho dineros clients esp. the LCE’s giving them envelopes every month. Please arrest NOT only the HIRED KILLERS but also those PEOPLE WHO HIRED THEM TO KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE JUST TO BE IN POWER.

  9. Could our frustrated lawyers explain to us on how can the PNP build a case or probable cause in order to link the masterminds/employers with these arrested victims of our sick society? Are their testimonies would be enough to indict/prosecute them assuming that our court system could be trusted at this time? Consequently, if Gen. Magalong is really serious and succeed to exterminate these pests and leeches, there’s no doubt that our provincial government servants (elected or not) would think twice now before they will continue doing their corrupt practices. And what would be then the reaction of the majority abrenians that will not only widespread in our country but in all corners of the globe where you could find our kababayans? What? I can’t hear you? Another Aquino?

  10. Hats off to the PNP Abra, under d able leadership of PRO-CAR Director Gen. Magalong, for another successful apprehension of another lawless element. May these tireless efforts of d PNP rub off to the concerned Abra citizenry (only a few I think), so that we could also help our “kapulisan” in eliminating these so-called “hired killers” by our own simple ways! Maki-alam! Identify them, and report them! And let our PNP take from there…

  11. Our justice system and those of the other “civilized” societies, is based on evidence. NO EVIDENCE, NO CASE. if nobody wants to testify against erring individuals (killers, mantinidors, corrupt prosecutors/judges), cases filed will just end up in the trash bin on the ground of lack of probable cause. After the case is dismissed, retaliatory suits will be filed against the police investigators who worked on the case. The ironic part is that the cases against the police prospers easily.

Mantinidors and corrupt prosecutors/judges know this very well that is why they are very careful not to leave any evidence pointing to them. We say, “GOD knows that they are guilty as hell”. If only GOD can come down and testify. But of course GOD won’t do that because time will come that he will be the judge and not merely a witness.

In the meantime, everybody must do his part – be watchful, be brave and testify.

Pray for the police also. Because they can get tired too.

  13. Thanks Brocha, but still I don’t want to think that President Aquino’s plan in kicking out Corona in the ass just to give us a chance to taste a real justice in Abra was a failure? Maybe his shrewd but trusted men will one way or another find some other ways besides the “Witness Protection Program” in nailing these evil/erring individuals if still we couldn’t produce in due time the likes of Bernadine (Myrna?) Joson and COA Commissioner Mendoza, to mention a few. The President is a godly man, always guided by the holy spirit (unlike us) to lead us in a righteous/straight path and thru our fervent prayers and if Gen Magalong and his real men won’t get tired, I believe true righteous leaders of Abra will emerge 3 years from now. They are no longer afraid by then to come out in the open because our unsung heroes (Gen Magalong and his men) had already laid their path nice and clean in fulfilling their dreams in the province. When that time comes, I am begging the dirty politicians to hide themselves for the sake of their great grand grand grandchildren who will suffer again.
