Two killed in Abra province fire

Two people were killed in a fire that hit a two-story house in Abra province early Friday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Saturday.

In its 6 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said the fire started at 2 a.m. at the house owned by Amelia Beleno, 74, in Lingtan village in Bangued town.

Killed were Yolanda Belena, 14; and Rose Jay Belena, 9, the NDRRMC said.

Both died on the spot, it added.

The NDRRMC said the cause of the fire was still under investigation as of Saturday.

It added the Bangued town fire station responded immediately to the situation, even as the Office of Civil Defense in Cordillera is monitoring developments. — LBG, GMA News
